During my trip I went to both Dirty Al’s and Daddy’s. I thought Dirty Al’s shrimp was a little better, but if you’re looking for a nicer restaurant, this is not for you. It’s more of an authentic, “I feel like I’m getting fresh seafood”...More

We’ve been here before many times for the seafood baskets, but tried something different. The salad was fresh and shell delicious with a generous supply of large blackened shrimp! Highly recommend!

While the food was good, it was hard not to notice the dirty overhead fans, right above your head. An older place, very casual. Had to throw our clothes in the washing machine when we got home, as the fishy smell of the restaurant permeated...More

First my complaint. We have been here several times but tonight I noticed for the first time a statement on the hottest stand that offends me. It says "Welcome to Mexico". We may be close to the border and many hispanic people are here but...More

This place doesn’t look like much on the outside — solid block painted white. Site is located on the Southwest end of the island — near the County Park RV Resort. The views of the marina remind you of how close you are to the...More

Dirty Al’s is an economical delicious casual place to eat. They have great drink specials and bring your fresh fish for inspection before cooking. We were one week on the island and though we ate at a lot of other places Dirty Al’s was our...More

I only like fish when it comes to sea food so options on the menu were limited. I had the fried fish basket and it was ok. Everyone raves about it but I didn't see what was so great about it. Prefer Daddy's menu; it's...More

We've eaten here twice in the last month. The lightly breaded crispy butterflied shrimp are huge and wonderful as is their double dipped french fries. So far, our favorite shrimp place on SPI. The 6 (and sometimes 7) piece shrimp basket with fries is a...More

Used to offer fresh, crispy fried fish and wonderful service...Service is still ok, but three times, we were served shrimp that actually stunk so badly, like iodine or ammonia, that the manager smelled it too and gave us our money back after new dishes had...More

About Us
Dirty Al’s has been in operation since 1986 and has always provided the freshest seafood to thousands of visitors from all over the world.
As a family owned and operated business, we have always taken great pride in taking care of each customer and providing them with a unique experience that they can only get from eating at Dirty Al’s. Dirty Al promises every customer that they will only be served the absolute freshest seafood caught in the wild off the Gulf of Mexico.
A Father and his Sons Make a Great Team!
Alfonso Salazar, better known as “Dirty Al” originally started shrimping as a young man with his father and 6 brothers. In 2003, he and his youngest son, Cameron, who graduated from Culinary School, transformed his bait stand into a restaurant where together they have been known for having “The World’s Best Fried Shrimp”! In 2005, his other two sons returned home to help grow the business. To this day, they now own 6 restaurants on beautiful South Padre Island and continue to bring only the “best” Gulf Seafood to each customer’s table.
