We stopped here on the way back from Navasota for a late lunch. Very cool old general store now a BBQ/limited menu restaurant and bar. Owner was very friendly and provided great service. BBQ brisket was a bit chewy but was served in huge portion. German potato salad and pinto beans were really good. Wife had a bowl of ice... More

The outside of the place doesn't look like much but inside it is really cool! The only con I have about this place are the hours. It would be great if they were open later and 7 days a week. It is for purely selfish reasons that I say this because, the food is delicious, the place is relaxing &... More

First time here... Stopped in for lunch after visiting the Washington-On-The-Brazos State Park and based on the recommendation of locals. Had the B-B-Q sausage and the wife had B-B-Q beef. All I can say is WOW...it was OUTSTANDING. This restaurant is in an old tin building just North of the park entrance and doesn't look like much. But the food... More

Open most weekends. This place serves good smoked brisket and sausage. Sides include German potato salad (good) and pinto beans (Texas staple). I prefer my beans softer, with more cumin, but they were good. Ditto the potato salad and brisket. The peach cobbler for dessert was to die for.

Good food at down home prices with good service and awesome locale! We've been twice. Step back in time and enjoy both the quietude and friendly staff, chef and atmosphere.

Great spot for lunch. The flourless chocolate cake is terrific. R has a Saturday dinner that he serves weekly and is known for.

Out in the middle of nowhere. That’s the only way I can describe R Place’s location. But that’s part of what makes it so wonderful. It’s on a road that isn’t heavily traveled, but folks who know about R Place come from miles around to enjoy the relaxed country atmosphere along with the well-prepared food. If serving barbecue makes it... More

The barbq sliced beef sandwich was stuffed with meat that practically melted in my mouth. My husband enjoyed the sausage, beans & German potato salad plate. Small town, laid back, friendly atmosphere. If you are visiting Washington on the Brazos state Historic site I recommend you give this place a try although I believe they are only open on weekends.

Heading to Washington on the Brazos park on a beautiful spring day. Looking at wildflowers in route. Did not know where we might lunch before the park. Website showed the restaurant closed that day. It was Good Friday. I saw great reviews on line for this place, so was disappointed it would not be open. Never fear!! I called the... More
