Amazingly good steaks in a traditional setting. This cook knows how to make a good steak and the side dishes are honest vegetables without any frills. I asked my steak to be rare because most cooks in the US overcook to my taste and I...More

We had dinner here during our stay in Monticello partly because of the reviews we read here. Maybe our expectations were too high but we found this place to be just ok. The atmosphere was quiet and decorated in rustic western. The meal is served...More

This place is very enjoyable! Just the right amount of rustic ambiance, matched with good food, good service and a great location. Away from town and nestled in pinion pine and Juniper trees. Bob Mussleman the owner and chef, is a very nice guy. Highly...More

Fabulous food, hard to find, but worth it. The staff is casual and funny but experienced. The chef is terrific, my salmon on a cedar plank was delicious and not overcooked. It was perfect. You feel like you are visiting an old mining camp or...More

My friend and I were intrigued by other reviews we had read of this restaurant. We knew it might be hard to find, but it was not really a problem in daylight. Bring your camera! It's such a nice surprise to dine in old-fashioned elegance...More

What a wonderful surprise for dinner this evening. Sometimes you need to get past the main entrance and look inside. Only 9 tables in the whole place but Wow. What good food and ambiance.

The hotel clerk suggested this place to us as "the best food in Monticello." I was skeptical, but had always been intrigued by the weird sign and location and lack of people. Food was fine. There were no other customers that night, but I would...More

It is very easy to miss the entrance. If you can, go in the daylight for a recon. Heading south from Monticello it's on your right. Good choice.
