Carpenter and Main came highly recommended by a few people. The food was good but the server was unattentive. There was too much time between the time we received our menus and the time we ordered. We wanted to order another bottle of wine, we asked for the wine menu but the waiter didn't come back for our order. The... More

Our waitress ( Bridget) was inattentive. She took forever to serve us and then brought one wrong dish. To add to the poor experience, I thought we'd order desert but after giving us the menus she forgot us. It wasn't totally her fault. They were short staffed. If she had simply been gracious and explained it would have been acceptable.... More

Carpenter & Main Restaurant is a place for special events. The food is very good, it has small rooms.

When I decided to visit my daughter on Mother's Day weekend I had not planned on it also being Family Weekend at Dartmouth College. Reservations were scarce but we had the good fortune of meeting a couple who recommended Carpenter & Main in Norwich as an excellent local spot that had not yet been discovered by college families and alumni.... We went as a large group and there were other groups seated inside. There was a lot of noise, hard to hear one another, and if I were a couple hoping for a quiet dinner out, I'd be a bit disappointed. The food however is great, high quality and good-size portions . The desserts are delicious. Service efficient and professional.

Carpenter and Main is consistently one of the best restaurants in the Upper Valley. Everything - food, wine, service - is always excellent. We have never had a disappointing meal in this fantastic chief owned establishment. The front bistro area is louder than the back rooms should that be a consideration. And the bar is lovely to stop at for... More

Service was great. Food was French. We enjoyed it. I will go back. It is a little loud for older las in the Bistro area for older folks. But bustling and fun.

We ate on Valentine's Day with a fixed price menu. When we made reservations we were not advised of this. Luckily we were not concerned about the $65 price, but others who came in, even with reservations, were not aware of this. Also, the area where we sat was very cold, and though they said it would heat up, it... More
