Seward Family Restaurant is the restaurant where the locals eat. The food is delicious; wait staff is very friendly. attached to the restaurant is a Dairy Bar serving homemade ice cream and shakes. There is also an assortment of food gift items as well as Vermont tourist gift items. Highly recommend the restaurant.

This restaurant was awful. We had soup, (felt like out of a can), a western sandwich which arrived on white bread, not toasted, no prompt from waitress if we wanted toasted, order of fish looked like triangles of frozen fish from the store, salad bar was OK, service was bad, no asking how everything was .

Always wondered about this place that looks like a classic dinner and everyone always saying good ice cream. Wheelchair accessible (average age of customer was probably 85). Interior is like a normal diner from 1982 and it hadn't been remodeled and so dark inside that I think they just don't replace any lights as they slowly die out. Our young... More

We used to visit this place when I was a kid, and now we bring our kids to the restaurant. The desserts are great, particularly the ice cream and homemade pies. The food is good, too, and I had some excellent fish last time there. This place is a trip back down memory lane with friendly staff and very good... More

I stop in Sewards when I visit the Chittenden and the Rutland area various times during the year. It is a wonderful value and the staff is friendly and helpful. No, its not a fancy place but it's charming with its long history and great food! I have enjoyed their breakfasts, their burgers, their specials and their homemade pies! I... More

This place gets judged because its outdated and some claim its awful. This place is all about a friendly experience. Locals have and still go to this place in the 64 years its been open. You wont find the eclectic modern food but you should give it a chance with out reading a review. It's awesome. Ill go back soon!

If you're looking for a good breakfast this is the place. Old fashion dairy bar that has been the same since I can remember which I find comforting.

If you're going here to buy pints or half gallons of ice cream, make sure you ask the girl which supplier has provided whatever flavor you're selecting. After really liking the chocolate chip ice cream we got there last time, when we bought it again, it was completely different. No chips, brown ice cream instead of cream colored - turns... More

I've been stopping at Seward's for years on my way to visit my Grandparents in Vermont, and we've eaten at Seward's every time we've gone. Their breakfasts are excellent, the pancakes are wonderful, and the rest of their food is certainly up to scratch. The ice cream is quite good, too. However, they've always run a very narrow profit, and... More
