My husband was born and raised in Balıkesir, Turkey, so we seek out Turkish restaurants when we travel. This one was a disappointment. It started with the hostess, who seemed disgusted that we couldn’t sit at a table with high chairs. I’m short, and just...can’t be comfortable in a high chair. There were plenty of open tables with short chairs. She choose to seat us at a table that was between a half wall and a garbage can next to a wait station. Not Turkish hospitality to say the least. This table should be reserved as a last ditch, only table available space, and the garbage can should be removed. Our waiter was pleasant and attentive. We ordered a meze platter to share. The haydari had a good mint flavor and the salsa was tasty. The grape leaves and the rest of the platter was unnecessarily salty. The sıgara böreği was much too salty as well. Yes Turkish cheese is salty, but the börek didn’t need extra on the phyllo. It was served with what tasted like ketchup. My husband ordered the döner with salad, and the greens were nice and fresh. The meat was juicy, as it should be. I had the lentil soup, which was rather bland. The minuscule lemon provided was laughable, but the waiter quickly brought more. So, if you’re not familiar with Turkish food and hospitality and not concerned about your salt intake, you may enjoy this place. If you are ever in Bethlehem PA, try the Anatolian Kitchen. They don’t have as many fancy baubles decorating their space, but they do serve authentic Turkish fare with genuine Turkish hospitality!More
