We ate dinner at Poor Billy's during a recent visit to Blacksburg. We were about a week after parent's weekend at Virginia Tech, and they were still out of a large number of items -- evidently the parents cleaned them out. That said, our waitress and the bartender were extremely apologetic and turned it into a fun event to see... More

I was looking for somewhere to go eat and so I found this restaurant. I actually ordered filet it came with these humongous fries and also a salad. The bartender was really friendly and we had great conversation. The steak was cooked perfectly and I couldn't eat all of it because it was so big at least for me. It's... More

One of the more surprisning discoveries was that a restaurant that does not plan its flow correctly, can run out of an entire list of items! Like deserts! But service was great and food was good.

We have been visiting Blacksburg since 2002 and have enjoyed many meals at Poor Billy's. This visit however was far less than enjoyable. But first, my sympathies to the two young ladies trying to wait on all the tables and also serve as bartenders. They were literally running in their efforts to serve. There were four of us for dinner.... More

Wife and I stopped in for dinner. It started badly and only got worse. There was almost no heat, so cold that my wife had to keep her coat on the entire meal. The service was sluggish to nearly nonexistent. My entree, filet mignon, was utterly lackluster. Accompanied by steak frites, which in this case was a quartered potato served... More

Over the past 10 years, we have been regular customers and gotten to know many of the wait staff and bartenders. We considered them good friends. The service is typically fast unless it's a game day at VT. Cocktails are outstanding; ample and potent. My favorite was the Key Lime martini that Brian and Courtney use to make - heaven!... More

Best meal I've had there in over a decade! I love the new menu. Sushi, steak, seafood and great wine menu. Something for everyone. The veggies, cheese grits and crab bisque were on point. Trust a foodie and go there and try the new menu.

We were traveling to Florida and stopped overnight in Blacksburg. We have had some pretty disappointing meals when traveling. This place is a gem. The food was wonderful, the service was great, The she-crab soup and shrimp and grits were excellent. When we returned to the hotel we met some people on their way out to dinner. We told them... Rude waiter, terrible food. Never been to a worse restaurant, on top of all of this the manager refused to make any remedies for the situation. Just terrible

We have been (VT) season ticket holders for 20+ years, and have been to many of the places in the great town of Blacksburg... We came here EVERY game, and had the usual shrimp and grits.... The service folks were attentive, friendly, and seemed to appreciate our patronage. We also had one of the great selection of craft beers on... More
