My husband and I drive 2 hours to get to cafe cubano. They have the absolutely best vegetarian sandwich anywhere. For years, we have been looking forward to the trip. I look at their meat sandwiches and they look delicious too but I don't eat meat. It's a very fun place to go. My husband informed me it has a... More

Cafe Cubano boasts excellent service. It functions as both a coffee shop and as an American/Cuban themed restaurant. The coffee is good and comparable to that which you would expect at a local mid-range coffee shop. Breakfasts are particularly good and the portions are generous and reasonably priced. Additionally, there is outdoor seating right on the downtown mall and that... More

I love the breakfast- Tony's waffle is awesome but so is everything else on the menu. It is fairly central on the downtown mall so you never know who or what you will see.

Now named Grit Cafe, this place exceeded my expectations. Especially after I bit into my veggie burger sandwich. Mushroom lovers should definitely order it. My chai was decent although unremarkable and actually quite steaming hot. They have a huge outdoor section in the center of the mall for when it's nice out. The entrance is inside a mall of sorts... One of my favorite breakfast places in Cville. I was very disappointed when I walked by and saw a new name on the window. But the concierge let us know that it's the same great food, just a different name. I loved the huevos bueno, scrambled eggs with a spicy tomato salsa and a very fresh tasting green salsa.

Always get the bird but I have no doubt everything else is terrific. Atmosphere is always laid back and sitting outside on a nice day is wonderful.

Just had breakfast on a busy Saturday. The food selection and quality was very good. Portion size is good and I felt it was a good value. Sit outside if you can. Indoor seating is very noisy, and if you want to talk it may be a problem. The main dining area is where folks line up to order, plus... More

my wife and I took a side trip to Charlottesville, Va while vsiting Staunton, Va and found the multi-block street level mall. As we were walking around we decided to have lunch here. It was a cute place with outside seating as well as indoor seating. The half sandwich and soup my wife had and the sandwich I had were... More

Excellent coffee - mine was super potent if you like that and I do. Nice varieties of coffee and tea. We didn't eat lunch but saw a number of locals/regulars ensconced with sandwiches, coffee and laptops. Service a bit too casual for me.

This small coffee bar and eatery is located on Charlottesville's Downtown Mall. Cafe Cubano provides both indoor and outdoor seating (under a canopy of Willow Oaks). The menu includes a typical array of freshly brewed coffees and specialty coffees as well as a wonderful selection of breakfast meals. My favorite is the egg and cheese biscuit. At roughly $3 this...
