This is a special place - around for over 30 years! Food is excellent, as is the service. Make a reservation for the upstairs dining room because it is small. If the weather is nice, sit downstairs in the charming courtyard. It will be a memorable night!

Just celebrated my 50th birthday at C&O. Food was outstanding. The ambiance is great too . Ignore the reviews that call the place shabby - it has a great history and pleasing environment for dinner. Definitely white table cloth food and service.

Hidden nicely decorated building with a lot of charm. Nicely dim lit atmosphere that was beyond romantic. Enjoyed the experience and the especially the company.

Having flown in from England, it was an enormous pleasure to visit this restaurant on my first night in Charlottesville. The food and wine were superb and the staff extremely friendly. Difficult to see how it could be better.

A great little spot, very different but be prepared to spend lots. Especially if you drink at all, also portions are quite small.

This is the sort of place that seems like they have been doing it forever. Grabbed one of the last tables on a busy friday night. Greeted warmly despite not having a reservation, we were seated at a table downstairs. The decor is shabby shic/country speakeasy, and the stairs down are narrow and tight. The bar downstairs is classic. The... More

A wonderful place to enjoy --- great menu, bar, service. My wife and I hadn't been to the C & O for awhile, but we went recently celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary there --- it was terrific in every way. If in Charlottesville, a great place to enjoy.

Found C and O on yelp and went for an early Sunday dinner with my UVA daughter. The outside looks like a bar with the illuminated Pepsi-Cola sign, but on the inside you'll find a quaint 2 story colonial restaurant that serves a current, trendy 4* menu. We shared 5 apps and a main course-all delicious.- The roasted beats, shaved... More

This tiny place is almost like a shotgun flat, very narrow and tight. The aisle is almost impassable. Tables are tight together. The 4 physicists next table talked physics in loud voices: "That's a lot of tritium" "I'll say, especially gaseous tritium". The decor can only be described as shabby chic. Holes in the old pine floors are patched with... More

Don't be fooled by the exterior. Inside is delightful and the food is great. Attentive service. It is understandable why this is, year in and year out, one of C'ville's best. Parking can be problematic but they have free valet parking and validate at the nearby city lots. Good place for a special occasion.
