There is a difference! Super nice atmosphere and the best quality sushi that I have ever eaten. I was with 2 Japanese friends and they assured me that it was authentic. There is few better than this.

The people that run the restaurant are super nice! The restaurant is very authentically Japanese with a stone waterfall and the option for tatami mat seating. The sushi is very fresh and authentic. I believe they even have a Japanese menu. This is not the...typical all you can eat sushi restaurant, but the high quality of the fish is worth it! Would highly recommend.More

This review is based on one visit, but I will be back for more! Ate here at the recommendation of a colleague who loves sushi. She recommended the seaweed salad, which I have had several times. I was blown away by the beautiful presentation of...3 kinds of seaweed on that salad -- it was so beautiful as well as very delicious. I followed this with Hiro Roll -- tuna, salmon and lump crab, which was recommended by the server -- and a lovely light beer. This was the perfect dinner for me. The staff's service was perfect: attentive, but not intrusive. It was a shame more people haven't yet discovered this wonderful restaurant. I hope they do soon, because the restaurant deserves lots of customers. A true 'daikichi' expereince!More

After trying about a dozen Japanese restaurants in the tidewater area we were happy to find Daikichi. I lived in Japan for about 10 years and this restaurant offers authentic Japanese food prepared by a Japanese staff. Taste and quality is top notch and the...menu offers something for everyone...like an Izakaya.More

We’ve been enjoying Daikichi since 2001 and always enjoy our visits. Last night was no exception. We had miso soup, spicy cucumber salad, sushi and sashimi platter, and shrimp tempura - everything was just wonderful. We look forward to many more great dining experiences here.

This was the first time I had went to a restaurant specifically for sushi. Usually, I might just get a California roll or something on the side of a plate. Got the Sushi Dinner. It was fantastic and very refreshing. It was very fresh.

Love this place! My hubby and I went on a weeknight just for a change of pace. When you first walk in there is a lovely stone waterfall by the front door. It's not loud and adds the perfect ambient sound as a backdrop. They...have limited seating, there are seats at the sushi bar, and one long bench along the right with maybe 7-8 small tables along it. There is also traditional floor seating on a raised dais on the other side. I ordered the cold noodle salad and the vegetable tempura appetizer with a cucumber roll. My hubby ordered the same tempura and a different dish that had rice and a ton of different sashimi style seafood offerings. My noodle salad was DIVINE. Just the right ration of noodles to dressing and fixings. (no pics this time, promised hubby we'd be phone free) :0) The tempura arrived with 2 enormous shrimp, a large sweet potato slice, squash slice and green pepper. It was perfectly fried, light and delicious. I highly recommend this place to anyone desiring authentic Japanese with exceptional service at a reasonable price. Our total order, including my sprite and his beer was $52.00. Worth every penny.More

It's on a busy road but kinda hard to find.First thing,I went to the restroom to wash my hands and it was extremely clean and well decorated.Sounds odd but that says a lot about a place. It's been in the same location for 17 years.Comfy decor...nice ambience, great place for a date. The sushi did not disappoint either. My favorite was a soft shell crab sushi.Hiro roll was also excellent.I can't remember the other one we got but it was also delicious. The seaweed salad had 5 different types of seaweed, yummy! Also we had a tuna with a strawberry sauce.I was kinda apprehensive about the strawberries but it was surprisingly delicious. We had been recommended this place by several people and finally went.Service was great.Only one thing kinda surprised me was refills on soft drinks are not free .99 cents a refill.Don't let that stop you from going.More

I thought the food was very good at Daikichi. The prices might be a little higher than others but I'll pay more to not have to drive to Virginia Beach to have Sushi. Waiter was very helpful when we were placing our orders. I will...definitely eat here again.More

When wife and I are in the mood for sushi, Daikichi is our go-to-place. They are consistently superior. The sushi is the freshest around, artfully prepared. We consistently try different sushi rolls; they have always been delicious. I usually also go for sashimi - it...has never been noticeably 'fishy'. The only thing I could find to gripe about would be their price point, but the dishes, service and atmosphere are so good, we save our trips for special times and everybody leaves happy. Give it a try; it's a really nice evening.More
