This place is like most area " NY style " pizza places , close but no cigar . That being said they sell a pricey but great sandwich . On this recent visit I had a liverwurst and Munster cheese on marble rye with a touch of deli mustard . Of the years of stopping in here from time to... More

Wonderful local deli near GMU. Sandwiches are delicious and their jumbo shrimp salad is outstanding.

OK - so anyone can probably make a deli sandwich, but I just love the feel of this place. The older guy, who I assume is Bernie, has created an atmosphere where you just feel good. The employees genuinely look like they enjoy working there. The bakery sweets (7-layer bar - OMG) are fresh and great...and I've never had a... More

If you haven't been, stop gyping yourself. Homemade corned beef, pastrami and more. Best baked goods in area, homemade.

This place has great sandwiches and desserts. You order and they call your number. Mikey's special is worth the trip. Ample parking. I have dropped Bernie's a point since last time because they have tons of shelf space and deli cooler space lying empty and forlorn. Like they never replaced anything they sold when first open. It looks terrible. The... More

Bernie's is convenient to George Mason University & as such, has a crowd of students in there usually & they accept Mason Dollars. It's also convenient to city residents. Their food is typical deli style, but I find them expensive & often "out of" items. They have location going for them.

I've eaten here for years, but this week when I went in the lady behind the counter was wearing a shirt with a bunch of confederate flags on it. Is this the image the restaurant wants to represent? I had my son with me so when we walked back out without ordering it was a teachable moment.

Glad to be able to buy tongue for my sandwiches at such a convenient location! Bernie's is located close to the GMU campus and offers all the foods you might find in NYC if you were looking for deli food. The food is good and the prices are reasonable.

First ... it's all about the food. Bernie moved to Northern Virginia after working at the renowned Wagshal's Deli for years. The pastrami and corned beef are consistently world-class. The rye bread is better than any I've had in NoVa. The pastrami sandwich is put together with just the right balance of mustard, cole slaw and seasonings--I have to say... More
