We were in Oporto with family and the owner of another restaurant that was full recommended this one and since it was next door he did the reservation for our 9 person group. We showed up, the reservation was on the book but we were told to wait until the table was clear in 20mins. We went for a walk... More

When the locals are lining up to get in, you know it's good. We went around 12:30 and we're seated promptly. Even then the tables were packed. Generous portions, very fresh and savory. The staff is warm and friendly. Two entrees and a half bottle came out to approx 30€. By the time we were done there was a line.... More

We are English and live in Portugal so we know a little about good Portuguese lunches! After a tour of the port houses we came across this fabulous little restaurant which was packed with locals when other restaurants nearby were not which normally means it must be good food and value. We had a superb traditional lunch of the day... More

Sought refuge during a downpour and were rewarded with a lovely cheap lunch.Excellent veg soup, great bread and a classic francesinha ( a must-do, a large sandwich with beef, sausage and ham coated in grilled cheese and swimming in a piquant soup) a coke and a beer all for 14euros.Obviously beloved by locals who all seemed to have the set lunch... Situated in a busy little street off the main riverside at Vila Nova de Gaia, this little restaurant offers traditional Portugese food at very reasonable prices. I had already read the recommendations before we passed by on our first evening so the following evening we called in. In the evenings it was quiet, in the afternoons it is packed with... More

A small restaurant where the locals eat. Great value for delicious local food. It was interesting sitting amongst the locals and experiencing the vibe.

When you see a menu in the local language, jugs of wine on tables, and elderly (usually female) chefs, it's worth exploring further if you like something genuine in a tourist area. Our limited Portuguese and their limited English ( with smiling service) established 'cover style' starters of smoked meats and cheese with really crisp fresh bread, a half litre... More

We stumbled across this restaurant more by accident than design and were really pleased with it. It's very much a neighbourhood restaurant with lots of local picking up dishes to take home. It specialises in traditional Porto dishes with a lot of offel on the menu. I tried the chicken with rice and chicken blood which wasn't gruesome but absolutely... More

We had the monkfish and prawns. There was still sand inside the prawns and the sauce was rather bland. Can't recommend.
