This is the best deli I've been to around the Virginia/ West Virginia area! The sandwiches are amazing and so delicious never have ordered something I didn't like! Also we always bring home bread, deli meat, and the spicy pickles yummy!!!

We haven't been here for years but recently drove by and decided to stop for dinner. The prime draw is definitely the cheesecake. We had sandwiches too. I had a hot roast beef sandwich and enjoyed it. The waitress was more than pleasant and attentive. We got our cheesecake to go. If you want a bit of nostalgia, this is... More

It does not even come close. I am a New Yorker and I have property here so am in Roanoke often. The city has some good places to eat but this place is nowhere near a good Brooklyn Kosher Deli or Italian Deli where you can get a good Hero.

I stopped by the New Yorker for one of their famous subs and ordered a Submarine and a slice of Cheesecake. Could not eat the whole sub as it was HUGH... so took the cheesecake home. This place is history!! Loved it.

I went in and order a take out sandwich for a let lunch. The sandwiches have lots and lots of meat in them and are served warm. Service at the takeout counter was quick and efficient. My only negative comment was that I asked for swiss cheese to be added to the sandwich, but the slice of cheese was very... More

I had a friend who raved about the New Yorker for years but I just didn't seem to be able to go. Then on a family outing I was in town but they were closed for vacation that day RATS!!! It took a while for me to get back and actually get to eat. I was glad I finally made... More

I've been eating at The New Yorker for 57 years and have never been disappointed. Menu has not changed in all those years. This is as close to a real NY deli as you will find elsewhere. Lots of places in Roanoke have tried to copy them but never quite as good. Tasty, overstuffed typical deli type sandwiches. The small... More

I took a friend here for a late lunch around 2:00pm. We split the Original and it was plenty for both of us. I also ordered us a kosher tomato; it is like a green tomato dill pickle with plenty of garlic. There were several folks there and the wait staff were friendly and brought out our food quickly. There... More

Our first visit, we both had pastrami, mine on rye with coleslaw and husband plain on kaiser roll. We both had a side of potato salad which was just OK, not a lot of flavor but not bad. Pastrami was first rate, no fat and a sufficient amount. We got a huge piece of cheesecake to go which was delicious--not... More

A good deal for a good sandwich. I have never been disappointed, but then again I have always gotten the roast beef sub. Make sure you have cash. It's the only thing that they take. They baklava is excellent and inexpensive too!
