I'm partial to chicken and dumplings, and always try it if it's on the menu. Normally, I'm disappointed because they can never compare to the dish homemade. This place is the exception - their chicken and dumplings are absolutely delicious. The restaurant is homey, and...More

A local suggested this place when I said I was looking for a dessert place with coconut pie. The pie was delicious, the quaint ambiance was great, the gift store a neat little surprise. Went back a second time for lunch, it was amazing. A...More

Love the Smithfield Ham on Country Biscuits set in a period decor. Add the fruit salad and homemade pie and you are in heaven. A must stop on the way to Jamestown.

Wonderful, locally owned Breakfast/lunch restaurant. They feature colonial recipes and local produced Edwards Ham Co. Products. Chicken and dumplings are very special and so is Brunswick Stew and the huge Ham biscuits. Save room for their home made pies, my favorite is buttermilk! Breakfast was...More

You'll swear you are in your Grandma's house when you visit for lunch. the chicken and dumplings are fantastic, and the hand made burgers are a kid's favorite....Don't dare leave without trying the homemade pies and visiting the giftshop

Even though we live in the area, we just didn't go there until a few friends wanted to go for breakfast/brunch after church. I found the service to be poor and the portions were too small for the cost. I have never gone back.

Virginia ham was amazing. Children loved their pancakes. Table was beautiful, service was quick and coffee was hot. Btw the biscuits were not the shape we were used to but they tasted like my great grandmother's and she was an amazing southern cook.

I don't think they take reservations. Go early because it gets crowded quickly.

Looks like you got two good sets of directions. There is also parking on the side street. It is a busy place and only open until about 3 p.m. so don't go late.
