My mom and I went to Bainbridge Island on Easter. We took the ferry to and from Seattle. We had been on Amtrak for about a week and wanted to spend a little bit of time outside and on the water. So after a few hours dinking around in the shops we had a special dinner at Hitchcock. Started with... More

Yeah, it was loud. Be warned, but no worse than lots of other places. Yeah, it was expensive. Not an everyday place. But my pistachio cake was tiny, a finger sized silver. Not to be forgiven. I think they're trying too hard to be like some trendy Seattle restaurant. It doesn't work.

I dined here recently and was moderately disappointed. Service, while friendly, was not very competent....we ordered a bottle of wine, and instead out came a glass; we ordered appetizers and entrees, and about 10 minutes later the entrees were served...we informed the server about the missing appetizers, and those came out a few minutes later...so we had no choice to... what a welcoming place, with first class service and terrific food. the beet salad was fresh and perfectly presented. the octopus entreè was grilled just right, as was my daughter's salmon. the flavors were fun, but never outshined the essence of the dish. my only small quarrel was that the wine list is expensive. so dinner for three, with wine... We moved back to the area several months ago from Washington, DC, and this is without question the best meal we have had so far. The flavored were complex, layered, and creative. The freshness of the food obvious. I am also sick of "sophisticated" food being incredibly overseasoned, and it was so refreshing to have flavor come from the flavor... More

Great night! Wonderful ferry ride, dinner for 5, atmosphere and service. We tried several dishes between the five of us, the chicken, gnocchi, kale, carrot and clam dishes were standouts, although everything down to the wine pairings was exceptional. Everyone had a wonderful meal and experience.

We made a reservation, wanting to splurge on our anniversary. When we arrived, the host wanted to seat us back by the kitchen. It's noisy back there, and we asked if we might take a table by the front window. This seemed to strip his gears. Upon sharing this story with others who have eaten there, they had a similar... A few aspects of Hitchcock were great but not enough to earn more than a "3." I was so optimistic when we got there! The service was great but quite Slow. We were there for 90 min (just 2 of us) and still had to leave in a rush to make a show. If you choose to get cocktails and/or... More

Enjoyed my lunch here on a beautiful day on Bainbridge Island. The house cured meats are what they are known for. I went with the pastrami Reuben sandwich. The meat was moist and flavorful, with rich meat cut perfectly by the tangy cabbage.

We dropped in without any knowledge of this restaurant and without a reservation. The hostess was gracious and fit us in. The tap water was undrinkable - perhaps a way to have us buy bottled? My first glance at the menu had me ready to walk out as I did not think I would like anything they had to offer.... More
