Sadly, Tak and Okasa closed up and retired recently after major shopping development began construction across the street. Would have been good for their business, but they'd already worked hard all of their lives and prepared great sushi. Nothing like it in Gig Harbor and only one close to it in Tacoma.

This is an excellent case of "don't judge a book by it's cover". The restaurant itself is in a dilapidated corner of a forgotten business plaza and doesn't look like much at first glance. This is not a college-age bar or an all-you-can eat place, so if you are looking for buzzing ambiance, go elsewhere. This small joint is the... More

There are more than a few Sushi Places in the South Sound region, and I have tried most of them. This one is the best, the best quality of fish and presentation. The ambiance is... quirky and local... but the sushi is unparalleled.

Oh my. Oh my, oh my, oh my. This is it folks, the real deal. I could eat here every day (well, if I could afford it). If you love sushi please go. It's beautifully presented and a lovely food experience. Atmosphere is average but food is divine. Try a Bento Box or sushi platter and swoon. Truly.

Two good sushi rolls, the Gig Harbor roll was different and good start to the dinner. I had chicken teriyaki and my wife , shrimp tempura so we shared. We live here and will be back.

Chef Tak is a local treasure. He, his wife, and assistant Hannah take pride in their work. They prepare and serve with ever-present smiles. Fabulous food is served expediently and at reasonable prices. Check out the specials, and ask in advance if the chef will do something unique for your group. his knowledge of Japanese cuisine is extensive, and he... More

We were looking for sushi to take to family on Thanksgiving eve and were so pleased to have found an authentic Japanese sushi restaurant. It is easy to miss from the exterior but worth tracking down. It is small and family owned, and simply decorated. What they lack in atmosphere, they more than make up for in quality and freshness... More

This place is hidden away and often overlooked. The sushi is the best around and priced well and is authentic. The dinners are a little over-priced for the area and atmosphere. Service was excellent and well-timed. With a little marketing, this restaurant would be full at all times.

After calling for reservations for 7, there was no record of this when we arrived. Seating us seemed a great inconvenience for the hostess/waitress. Then there was the $7.50 for 2 oz of bad chardonnay. My wife and I had the tempura dishes, both cold and greasy. The lack of concern for our meal and service by the waitress was... More

This sushi tasted fresh. There was more filling in the roll than rice. Staff was very friendly. We will be coming back for sure.
