So glad we took the opportunity to visit this beautiful historic hotel for dinner. The chef focuses on locally sourced ingredients that are fresh and healthy. We enjoyed their special cornbread- a unique treat. Entrees were hot and delicious. Waitress was on top of each item and brought drink refills without being asked. Looking forward to going back again!

On our way home from Roanoke, VA to Louisville, KY and on my brother-in-law's suggestion, we came to bug around Lewisburg. Hungry, we came upon the General Lewis Inn. Immediately engaging by ambiance and staff friendliness, we were seated for brunch. Christin helped us with thoughtful opinions as to her likes. My wife had eggs Benedict with homemade Hollindase sauce.... More

Sparrow has worked with her staff and her chef is always willing to accommodate my need for gluten free options. They often even have gluten free dessert options like a chocolate pot or a gluten free chocolate chip cookie. Guests can now eat on the patio. Am hoping that they will allow guests to eat in the garden patio behind... More

I have been coming to the General Lewis for many years. Always looking forward to the fabulous food and service. Service could always be compared to that of the Greenbrier, but with that small town feel, touch and flare that you get. Service remains excellent, but I can say that the food may have suffered a bit in the change... More

The innkeepers and staff are lovely here. They have upgraded quite a few of the rooms and have done so very well. I have never partaken of the bar that they have downstairs, but it looks like it is very well stocked. If staying here, I would suggest one of the updated rooms. I have stayed in the older rooms... Staying in the General Lewis Inn was like experiencing a step back in time except with modern day bathrooms and free wifi for guests. It is also rumored to be haunted, which is my kind of place. We dined at the Jefferson Dining Room located in the original portion of the inn built in 1834. The dining room had an... More

From our arrival to departure the staff were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. This old building gives a very unique atmosphere which added so much to a great evening out. I hope anyone who ventures to this establishment also enjoys it as much as we did.

Was in town for family but ate breakfast (brunch) at this lovely hotel. I couldn't get a room on short notice. Have stayed here many times.

Stayed here over Halloween night to see if we could "scare up" some ghosts lol! Couldn't bring myself to stay in one of the "haunted" rooms, but stayed just a few doors down from them. Still was spooky enough! Beautiful old hotel. Nicely redone bathrooms. A lot of antiques. It's not a place to just stay overnight, it's a destination... More

Staying in the General Lewis Inn it made it great we could just walk down the steps to the exceptional Jefferson Dining Room located in the original portion of the inn built in 1834. We had a nice breakfast of hot cakes and fruit and the Farmer omelet, hash browns, tea and pineapple juice.Dinner was just as good with the mountain trout,sweet... More
