We all love Al's Swedish pancakes. The kids like them with their (own) maple syrup, husband likes them with their lingonberries, and I like them with strawberry sauce and whipped cream. The American fried potatoes are also so good and it's a lot of fun...More

We were very impressed with AJ. The goats were fun to watch on the roofand the neighboring beer garden was a perfect spot to wait for our table (45min on a Sunday morning). At the garden they sold coffee, morning drinks, and beer. There are...More

This building was built in Sweden, taken apart, the parts were numbered and it was shipped to Door County to be rebuilt! Authentic lingonberry jam, and Scandinavian foods are on the offing here. One of my favorites here is the "smorgasbord", which includes pickled herring,...More

Everyone knows Al Johnson's because of the goats on the roof, and it's become an obligatory part of any trip to Door County (or at least any one person's first trip). The food is fine, but nothing special.

When in Sister Bay you need to have Swedish pancakes with lingonberries, meatballs, and see the goats.

Made a special trip just to show my grand daughter the goats on the roof and they weren't out. We went in and put our name on the waiting list and asked where the goats were. We were told nobody had time to put them...More

We are so sorry to hear about all the trouble with your visit! We hate seeing a guest not get the usual Al Johnson's experience. We hope you will give us another try and forgive us this off day.

I dare you to finish their Herring Plate by yourself! Two of us were hungry and shared the $15 plate, barely able to finish it. The herring was astounding, as were the accompaniments, including lots of bread and crackers. Although we were stuffed, we managed...More
