Terrible customer service. Terrible food (mushy gelatinous chicken on their nachos and pizza). Only redeeming quality was a decent tap selection but none of which was their own brew. If you want a dark, unfriendly bar with very expensive poor quality food and an ok...beer selection, this may be for you. Go to Pine Ridge or Maria's Hideaway and get some quality food and a friendlier atmosphere!!More

Great pizza choices, Sara has daily specials and uses local sources as much as possible for her recipes. Relaxed atmosphere and always good conversations!

Stopped in on a Friday evening for the first time and found the place was bustling with activity. We were able to get a table and each selected a new craft beer to try from their list of over a dozen beers on tap. We...saw several tables eating pizza so we did the same. The pizza was excellent with plenty of ingredients and a lot of cheese. The service was very good and we definitely will make a return visit when visiting the Hayward area.More

I have only been there once because they were often closed on previous tries. The pizza was very good and selection of tapped beer was extensive. I thought it was a bit pricey but that would not stop me from going again. I will return!

We heard about this place via the internet and just had to check it out. The atmosphere was very friendly, with a North-woodsy vibe. Service was great too. Perfect for a family get-to-gether. We really did come for the kugelis, apparently a Thursday night special...here. Since I've personally been trying to make good kugelis for 60 years, I know a good tasting one when I eat it, and this one was excellent. My kids and grandkids were impressed with the local draft beer offerings as well. Hope we can all come back next year and try one of the other menu offerings. Recommend.More

Can you have great pub food without a flat top and deep fryers? Absolutely if you are the Black Bear Pub and Grill in Stone Lake, Wisconsin. Both Keith and Sarah Dewars are creative and innovative in the kitchen, trading the usual fried meats, fish...and chicken for flavorful and tender braised and slow cooked delights. I can get reasonably good burgers and fries in lots bars but only the Bear has The Blue. Both the Blue and the Pot Roast Hoagie are built around tasty, moist tender beef roast and Au Jus, but the Blue adds Blue Cheese crumbles and Bacon. The Kugelis and Kielbasa, traditional Latvian comfort food, are so good that we call the pub at 5:00 P.M. on Thursdays to reserve ours in advance. There are other winners on the menu and there will be more to come. Whether you are a Northwest Wisconsin native or just visiting stop in at the Black Bear for soul satisfying food, excellent craft beers, and good company.More

We simply love this place and had a great experience. Very cute woodsy atmosphere & super clean. Awesome selection of beers on tap(pic is Barley Johns old 8 Porter) We started with cheese curds & they were perfect. We chose the fish fry & shrimp.(both...Fri specials) the Guinness batter was delicious. Everything well seasoned. Very generous portions!(glad we went super hungry) Staff was very good & checked on us even with being a little short staffed that night. Well worth the drive over from Spooner we’ll be back!! Highly recommend! Winter hours are different from summer so be sure to check their website or Facebook page.More

Finally got to try black bear and loved it. We have gone back a few times this summer and haven't been disappointed yet. Great burgers, good pizza, and the appetizers are very good too. Very big beer selection. It's also really nice inside. My one...complaint is the hours. I think they open too late. I highly recommend black bear pub.More

We really liked everything about this place bit our food. The atmosphere was great, the staff were very welcoming and friendly and it was very well maintained (i.e. shiny clean). They had a great selection of craft beer on tap which is seldom found in...the north woods. We were there on a Friday and tried two of their Friday specials. The grilled shrimp was skewers of small unseasoned shrimp. The fried cod were narrow strips with too much beer batter. The fish seemed like something frozen with breading that came off the Sysco truck, not hand breaded/battered fish fry we expect for a Friday night fish fry in Wisconsin. The redeeming part of the meal was the very fresh salad bar and the clam chowder. We liked this place and will be returning to give the regular menu a chance.More
