Coqui's has a lot of the typical breakfast items, but the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, friendly servers, and our food was good. Not used to Spam for breakfast on the mainland, my husband ordered it and was a little surprised at how edible it was! The hash browns were crispy and cooked just right. Just wished we had more... Being Locals from here thought Hey let's try this place ...Very Bad Idea! My 3 year old loves fries but did not even eat half of it (looked like it was forgotten in the deep frier with the so called chicken tenders!) My Kahlua Quesadilla with tomato salsa (WATERY) n Sour cream (looked like it wasn't refrigerated!, My bf had... More

Typical, Denny's-type restaurant (not really a diner, at least like US east coast). The Kiwanis club meets here, so likely does a reasonable job. Breakfast was all done well. Pancakes cooked properly. We didn't try other meals. Prices reasonable. Service seems variable -- one day, the waitress was friendly and prompt. The next day, a different waitress was rushed and... Being 1st time travellers to the USA thought we'd try the Diner experience. Should have realised that this was not the place when we were the only people in the diner on a Saturday night. The food was barely acceptable.

Two minutes from the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel . Super clean. Great fast service. And they put the blueberries inside the French toast. Also my hubby is fascinated by the amount of food in a dish called the last coqui...prices were reasonable for Hawaii.

We ate here after a long day at the Volcano National Park. A long hot day and very tired. The food was really good and would recommend eating here. We had the BBQ sandwich and fries. Staff was good too.

My breakfast was better than expected. A waitress had recommended that I could eat in the back portion of the diner with a nice view overlooking some ponds with flowers. I was the only one in the back section, however, there were many customers in the front of the diner. The waitress was friendly, however, the service was slow. Maybe... More

The four of us entered Coqui's at 10 am- we were asked to seat ourselves- the place was half empty and not busy. All the empty tables were dirty so we cleaned off one table and seated ourselves. We waited ten minutes and since no one arrived we went and got menus from the front desk. We attempted to flag... More

One really has to search to find good places to eat in Hilo and they do exist, but you may end up at a number of fairly average places before you locate the really good ones. Coquis' is a local joint on Kamehameha that is one part diner and another part bar/grill that is separated by a small alcove. We... More

This was a wonderful local restaurant with great omelets, cheerful service, convenient location, easy parking. We chose to return during our 6 day stay in Hilo.
