by far the worst place I have ever been, the orders were screwed up and the girl refused to change them the food (term used loosely) was not even edible. Staff rude and unprofessional and the food was garbage

We've eaten at Blane's several times and have really enjoyed their food each time. Their menu is extensive but not expensive. This time we each had a pork loco moco bowl. The bowl is just right for us, as the amount is reduced from the plate. The pork was thinly sliced and very tasty. Beneath was a liberal amount of... More

Blanes is a staple in Hilo. Although I can't recite it's history, it has been around a long time. Drive ins are still a popular choice here (not seen much on most of the mainland anymore) for people who want cheap fast local comfort food. (A note for people who don't live here- drive ins no longer have actual people... More

Nothing special here, would most likely eat somewhere else if given the chance again. Not bad food, but nothing outstanding. Staff was not overly friendly either

A short walk from downtown Hilo, Blanes is a fuss free eating place. This was our first meal in Hawaii and while there are huge portions it wasn't really to my personal taste. Large scoops of white rice, a little macaroni salad and we ordered one mix plate (massive chunks of meat and chili) and shrimp and mahi mahi (both... More

Ordered special of stuffed chicken breast. Very good and generous portions. I would recommend that it be served with gravy as chicken breaths was a little too dry.

Blane's has it all. It has fun restaurant/fast fresh food vibe. Food was uniformly very good. It says a lot that when you ask a local where to get a plate lunch this is where they send you!

Customer service is terrible! The cashier with curly hair, wish I would have gotten her name, needs to be talked to. She was rude, slow, and never thanked us! No aloha! We used to go to this establishment all the time, slowly food quality got worse along with customer service. The only reason we went this time was for convenience.... More

Stopped for a quick burger while in Hilo. Got the teri burger combo. Small burger without any teri flavor. Fair basket of good fries and a very watered down root beer for $6.50. Would not return.

You may want to give this a try just to see how truly awful Hawaiian "cuisine" can be. My chicken katsu consisted of breaded strips of chicken fat. The macaroni salad added insult to injury. The obligatory two scoops of rice were the only edible items any health conscious person would consider. On top of it, the items were overpriced... More
