Worth a visit - good food, great view, and retro atmosphere that manages to be charming rather than cheesy.

We are staying at Kauai Beach Club and thought we would come check out this property. This restaurant is not nearly as nice as other places. The smoothie was average. Filet mignon taste ok, but accompaniments not that great. The salad bar was decent but cheapie. ALSO extremely loud inside. Not sure how this place gets such high stars.

We dined upstairs, which we have visited in the past. Small changes in the last few years, such as an upcharge for the salad bar with your entree. The salad bar has been cleaned up, presented well, but there are fewer items to choose from. Wine prices are on the spendy side, as are cocktails and beer. My wife did... More

Sitting just above the beach, just below the huge Marriott Hotel in Lihue and close to the shopping center in the Lihue harbor, Duke's is apparently a place to eat. It's ALWAYS packed with families and couples just in off the beach or having some thing to eat before going out on the town, so to speak. The place hums... More

Went to the beach bar for a light meal before taking family to the Lihue airport. The food not only was less than mediocre, had to send back a plate of natchos as the sour cream was rotten! The waitress quickly replaced the plate but no offer to provide us with a complimentary drink and still charged us! The rest... More

We had dinner downstairs at The Barefoot Bar. Food was excellent, service was fast, friendly and attentive. Prices were much more reasonable than the dining room upstairs.

This review is for the on-the-beach Dukes which is different from the restaurant, same name that's connected with the Marriott. Anyhow, this is assuredly a tourist place and they are busy, busy, busy. Must say the best calamari I've ever eaten but the staff is pretty much indifferent. Had to yell "could I get a mai tai!" to the bartender's... More

Duke's is a superb beach-side setting over looking the beautiful bay and Pacific Ocean while watching beach volleyball and surfers in the distance. This is a setting worthy of the name Duke's. The food is good and the meal is not complete without their magnificent Hula Pie.

Another great TS restaurant that delivers great food, drinks, service and ambiance. We had an outstanding waitress (Pula I believe) in the bar area. Outstanding pork and fish tacos, and great salads.

We've been to Duke's several times. Generally it's noisy and quite crowded. Not my preference, but it is obviously liked by many. Food is okay, not great. Wait staff average.

Description
On the sand at Kalapaki Beach, Duke’s is dedicated to legendary surfer Duke Kahanamoku, Hawaii’s Ambassador of Aloha. The restaurant’s open-air design offers stunning, sweeping ocean views while the 30 foot waterfall plunges into a koi pond below that meanders through the tables. Enjoy a leisurely lunch, romantic dinner, or tropical cocktail in a fun, friendly atmosphere.
