...expensive but one of the best steaks in a long time. Cosy place with a chick Asian-inspired decor (and a selection of wacko-priced waku to go with it). The entire table opted for the 23 oz aged t-bone. Great piece of beef - cooked to perfection. Sides included asparagus (with quail egg) fries with truffle and garnered spinach - all... More

We booked a month in advance for New Year's Eve. They had a prix fix menu for $135 per person for 4 courses, with 4 options for each course (2 for dessert). I started with sashimi which was very good and quite a decent sized serving. However the star dish was the Singapore-style lobster tail that BF got - it... More

We ordered the A5 NY and Ribeye. Both were very good, and I surly among the best steaks I ever had if not the best. The side dishes of spinach and mushrooms were also good with a unique way of making it. It is an expensive experience, so good for special occasions. Would definitely go there again if I can.

The service started off a little rough, but then got better (or that could have been because of the drinks we had). The food was good, but pricey although we knew that going into it.

This was a corporate dinner and the selection and food was excellent. Several ordered the Kobe steak which was fantastic and worth the additional cost Leave room for deserts which right size with intense flavor a and great way to finish

I had the scallops, filet, and strawberry shortcake. Everything was very nice. But it was difficult to have a work conversation with the high noise level.

I started with a tasty Black Russians and it was indeed a very nice pour. We coupled our drinks with an inviting Lobster Tempura which was tender/crispy and very tasty. I then had a prime rib that as cooked to perfection. This place is definitely top shelf quality. And BTW, bartender/waitress was cute, charming and very knowledgable. I would definitely... More

The very high end restaurant occupies a spot in the not particularly prepossessing financial district of the city, which is probably the only part in any city that could sustain such a venture. The decor is at once dramatic and understated in a 1970s Bond villains lair sort of a way! The older man at the desk failed to actually... More

Been to 5A5 six times and every visit was amazing except the last two visits. If you want delicious, high grade steak, this is the place to be! I've had the NY Wagyu steak and every wagyu beef order comes with a certificate of authenticity which makes me laugh. Cute concept to say the least! I actually kept the certificate.... More

I really enjoyed my meal here, but unfortunately I won't pay over $200 for a steak, so I didn't try the wagyu :(( However, my filet mignon was indeed mignon. My colleagues steaks (a HUGE T-bone and a wagyu-cross) were equally delicious. It's a bit cheeky to charge me $14 for vegetables/potatoes on top of $60 for a steak, however.... More

A stylish & modern take on the traditional steakhouse, blending the ambiance of a contemporary restaurant with that of a vibrant cocktail lounge. We serve the best, top quality steaks from around the world - US Certified Angus Beef and Australian 'Kobe' and the grade A5 100% Japanese Wagyu - highest grade of beef in the world. Our menu is also very accommodating with several non-red meat options and different sized portions available. Great for an outing with friends, a business dinner, or a romantic evening on the town- 5A5 caters to those looking for outstanding food & service complemented by a fun & upbeat dining experience. 5A5 - 5 senses / the A5 experience

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
