The largest selection of types of pizza and a huge selection of toppings. You can select the temperature it is cooked at and what type of pizza oven used. Often has a wait for seating. Be prepared for expensive pizza. I,think the food is really good, but the prices take away, from the value received.

One of the best Pizza I have ever had, anywhere. This is a fantastic place but you must make a reservation, or have the patience to hang around for a table and/or get a seat at the bar counter. I sat at the bar top and had a few drinks and my dinner. Bar tenders are super nice and attentive.... More

With the just right crispy crust, Tony's pizzas are the best in SF. Get a slice (or two if you're starving), top with extra Parmesan and hot sauce and you're good to go with a tasty lunch in the park.

We felt this place did not really live up to the reputation. It tasted like a mediocre pizza joint. Nothing bad but nothing out of the ordinary either.

Visited the original shop next to the sit down restaurant..take out only and cooked in the original coal oven..ordered well done pizza new Yorker. Was tasty . Sauce was tart yet sweet. Crust was dark and crispy yet soft and chewy. Likely the best pizza I have had on the west coast..close to new haven pizza yet a distance away... More

After struggling with wanting to get everything on the menu the friendly lady behind the counter gave me her suggestions of what was best in each section. The pizza we ended up getting was absolutely delicious! And sitting at the bar we had an easy view of other people's choices and upon speaking with them it seems everyone was just... More

All the food is excellent, we especially love the meatballs and brick oven pizzas! We love eating at the bar, the bartender is one of the best we have ever had! You won't be disappointed!

I'm very picky about my pizza. I've been eating since I was a child. I used to eat so much of it that my mom once came up a plan to get me to stop. She figured if she let me eat pizza everyday that I would get sick and tired of it. Plan totally backfired. Anyways, I'm not one... More

We had eaten North Beach Pizza and we were disappointed. I ate there 19 years ago and thought it was the best. Then we noticed the crowd of people at Tony's. There is a reason--It is far better than the North Beach Pizza. for one thing, there is more sauce on Tony's pizza. The wood oven does a great job... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
