Restful spot for tea and light meals. Good for food before a show at the Yerba Buena Center. Some pretty views.

A lovely outside patio in Yerba Buena Gardens makes for a lovely place for a beer or wine (or other drink) on a sunny day. But beware of the host's attitude and the pretty slow service. Food platters are ok, but the other Hayes valley location had better food when I went there. If there's a convention at the Moscone... More
The location is great and on a nice day you may want to reserve a table in the patio though the samovar display deserves a look at. The choice of dishes is not extensive but far sufficient and diversified. The choice of tea is undoubtedly drawing some people there. No complaint about the food or the service are both were... More
For breakfast I ordered avocado toast on gluten free bread so that it would be vegan. Toast had butter on it. Very expensive, breakfast for 3 was $50 plus tip. Not impressed with veg choices or prices (English breakfast tea $9) but the setting is lovely and the outside seating is very nice.
Let's get this over with: this place is ridiculously expensive! (The teas shouldn't cost 12 or 15 dollars!?!) I've been to high quality tea shops in the U.S., and I've never seen these kind of prices. Now, having said that, the patio is amazingly beautiful ... so in part you're paying for the ambiance. The tea offerings are wonderful (many to chose from) and I appreciated the setting, the friendly service, the presentation of the tea and the music. A very nice way to start a morning or wind down a day.
We enjoyed the egg toast and the toast with anchovies, roasted peppers and arugula. Duck sandwich was tasty. Disappointing "corn beef potato hash"- small cubes of corn beef with potato halves- not the usual cut up in small pieces for hash. Pastry basket was fresh and OK- Did no realize this tea lounge does not serve coffee. Good services.
