Thep Phanom Thai is located in the Heights section of San Francisco in a Victorian building. The Thai food is authentic ( Pad Thai was very good) staff is dressed in traditional Thai cuisine, went with friends and would recommend and go back.

I have been to Thailand recently and the food at the Thep Phanom is excellent, and very authentic. We had red curry with a special fried rice whuch was delicious with very generous portions the staff dress as kickboxers wich is a good touch as for the area we stayed locally so had no issues at all

Visited this cute Thai restaurant. Using a groupon , which is a good way of trying a restaurant for the first time. The interior and servers dress in authentic Thai dress. The neighborhood is in the lower Haight, parking is hard to find. There are several pubs close by. The food was very good , we had a very delicious... More

Went for a business dinner and just ordered 8 items to share family style. Nothing wow- just average. Sticky rice was dry and the seafood in coconut was not worth mentioning. Interesting to walk around Haight-Ashbury

My partner and I were walking past one afternoon and an older couple walking by remarked that it was the best Thai in San Fransisco... I haven't tried every Thai restaurant in SF, but I'd dare say they were correct! Certainly one of the best Thai restaurants I've ever been to - the Thaitanic Tofu was glorious, with a beautiful... Their food was very scrumptious. The mango sticky rice desert was even better than the one I had in Bangkok, which is saying a lot.

We live in the neighborhood and have been to Thep Phanom in the past and so had every expectation of a delicious dinner, unfortunately every dish was off. The Pad Thai, a Thai restaurant staple was bland and had an off taste. The Siamese rolls were very greasy as were the jumbo shrimp. All in all a waste of money... More

I have no idea how we found this little restaurant but very glad we did. (I even thought it was called Thai Thep on some sites). Not too crowded which was astonishing because they serve real good food. Very friendly and modest and enthusiastic service. We didn't go for the big menu's but I just took a pad thai and... More

As a gourmand I could describe you French , Italian cuisine or nouveau American, but when it comes to Thai I couldn't go beyond Thom Yam soup or phad Thai noodle. Well this place will offer you a different take on Thai flavors. No matter what is your like the duck in a curry sauce or the giant prawns stuffed... More

We (family of five) visited earlier this month. There was a jazz band playing, giving the place a nice vibe. The food was terrific, at a relatively modest cost. This is worth a visit.

Staying in Haight-Ashbury

Neighbourhood Profile
The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops. While the Summer of Love ended decades ago, Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through its streets can still feel like stepping back in time. A must-see neighbourhood for most music fans, it’s easy to see why these streets attracted the likes of the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. You’ll likely be content in The Haight day or night, just be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
