Oh my word... what to say about this place... everything is amazing! From the service to the food!!! The downfall is the wait to be seated which is normally a minimum of an hour but it is totally worth it! You must get the monte...More

Recently visited Mama's on Washington Square mostly due to the reviews I previously read here on TripAdvisor. I decided that a weekday visit would probably be best. As you read in almost all reviews we did have to wait upon arrival, about 30 minutes. The...More

We had to wait more than 40mins to enter but worth every second! Very nice food, fresh ingredients, traditional decorations. It feels like your mum made you breakfast. Try the Montecito plate from the menu!

If you’re going to eat here the chances are you’re going to have to wait in line to do so. We joined the line on a cold morning with high expectations based on the reviews we had read. We queued for the best part of...More

We decided to give this place a try as we were walking back from Fishermans Wharf and ran in to it at Washington Square. The wait was about 1 hour and they told us on weekends it is 2 hours. It was worth the wait...More

Delicious breakfast, best we had in San Fran... in fact maybe best ever! Went to another very very highly rated breakfast place on tripadvisor in San Francisco and that was nothing compared to this place!! Get there early-ish otherwise you’ll be waiting outside. To order...More

If you want to eat at Mama's go early and be prepared to queue! The best time to queue on a Saturday morning is 7.30 and it won't open until like 8 or 8.30. The queue builds quite fast and keep growing. But don't let...More

Be prepared to wait in line a while here, even on weekdays at what might seem like an odd time - this place is always packed, and for good reason. There aren't a lot of tables inside, so the line goes out the door. An...More

North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds
of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian
ristorante come together to create the charming
neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping
grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of
North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always
suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in
the city exude as much European charm and style.

It is available all day, so you can have it for breakfast-before 11am. Even though it is listed under sandwiches from 11am- it says next to the Monte Cristo "available all day". Enjoy!

The longest wait was 45 minutes. Typical wait is 20-25. I haven't seen anyone order from the line. Once you are in, ordering, seating and food service is very efficient!

Established in 1951.
The family of Mama and Papa Sanchez, serves up traditional and innovative breakfast dishes in "Little Italy", the famous North Beach District in San Francisco. Across the street from the beautiful Washington Square Park, Mama's legions of fans line up early and throughout the day. We use the freshest of local products, imported Italian meats to fill our fluffy omelettes, homemade jam, fresh baked breads, pastries and other delectable dishes. We invite you to try our little restaurant and become part of the Mama's Family.
