We queued for over an hour outside this restaurant for breakfast. However, it was worth the wait and the delicious food that awaited us was finger licking good. We over ordered and the waitress gave us a box 'to go'.I would definitely recommend the French...More

My husband does not liking queuing so when we saw the queue at Mama's despite it being 9am on a Thursday i was worried he was going to make us give up and try somewhere else. But thank goodness he didn't! The queue lasted about...More

If you aren't patient, find another place to eat. They only seat 37 people I believe. The wait is at least an hour, maybe more. The concept is wonderful. The menu is on the outside of the restaurant. Once you enter, you are directed to...More

I had heard about Mama's from a review in an inflight magazine. We had to go for it! Usually I take a few images of the meal as a reminder but on this occasion, we were too hungry after waiting in queue close to an...More

We are native San Franciscans and usually avoid the touristy restaurants. We arrived at 11:30 and the line was long. TWO hours long. I haven't eaten here in almost 10 years and expected some good food. As I said, TWO hour wait and the place...More

I arrived at Mama's around 10:45am on a Tuesday. We were seated around 12:30pm. I got the banana bread walnut French toast with some Canadian bacon on the side. Both were sooooo delicious! I definitely recommend the French toast as well as the bacon! The...More

The best and always worth the wait. Got there at 7 am on a Saturday and was first in line. Mike Sanchez, the owner, invited me inside to sit and then we had a great conversation. He said his favorite are the pancakes because of...More

North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds
of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian
ristorante come together to create the charming
neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping
grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of
North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always
suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in
the city exude as much European charm and style.

It is available all day, so you can have it for breakfast-before 11am. Even though it is listed under sandwiches from 11am- it says next to the Monte Cristo "available all day". Enjoy!

The longest wait was 45 minutes. Typical wait is 20-25. I haven't seen anyone order from the line. Once you are in, ordering, seating and food service is very efficient!

Established in 1951.
The family of Mama and Papa Sanchez, serves up traditional and innovative breakfast dishes in "Little Italy", the famous North Beach District in San Francisco. Across the street from the beautiful Washington Square Park, Mama's legions of fans line up early and throughout the day. We use the freshest of local products, imported Italian meats to fill our fluffy omelettes, homemade jam, fresh baked breads, pastries and other delectable dishes. We invite you to try our little restaurant and become part of the Mama's Family.
