It's like going back in time to a restaurant that was first opened in 1867 and is furnished like its about 80 or 90 years ago. It has a real atmosphere that transports you back to the old style. It's actually very moody and a...More

Apparently the oldest restaurant in SFO, fifth oldest in the country. Old fashioned traditional decoration. The food is great, with a big emphasis on fresh seafood. Wide choices on the menu. We had a large party and everyone's food was very good. Location is convenient...More

One of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. Went here for a birthday lunch with an old college classmate. As usual food and service were great. If you want to try an piece of old San Francisco try this place.

For over 25 years, Sam's Grill has been my go-to choice for seafood (and occasionally sweetbreads) when in San Francisco (with Tadich my fall back on weekends when Sam's is closed). It's become my favorite restaurant in a city that has an unbelievable range of...More

A classic old school restaurant in the heart San Francisco's FiDi area, there's nothing truly unique about Sam's Grill except that it doesn't pretend that it's nothing more than home to well prepared seafood dishes with a sensibility that you can find it only in...More

A group of us tried Sam's for lunch and it was wonderful. Our waiter Stephanos made us feel like old friends, the menu is very impressive. Most of the dishes are fish, but they do have a handful of meat options. Just ask them to...More

Sam's reminds me of the Tadich Grill minus the bar. Menu is similar - get some seafood! I had a blackened swordfish entree and it was very good. Service was reasonable as were the prices. Easy to find and get a table.

This was probably one of the best places we ate in SF. It's small and old school. The servers are in tuxes and the attention to serving you is fabulous. They close at 9 and we walked in at 835. The host didn't hesitate to...More

Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but
can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s
version of Wall Street. The rush of business people
make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of
life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the
narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of
historic and contemporary architecture, including the
iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours,

It's cramped for large parties. I would say it's not kid friendly. It's a bit stuffy. Very much oriented for business lunches
