Best Pakistani/Indian food we have had in awhile. With a casual DIY atmosphere (no table service, you get your own plates, and you can BYOB--there's a market across the street), this place is a humble hidden gem. The food is authentic and spicy and plentiful. Bollywood movies play on the screen above big tables that can be shared or not... More

On the way down from yosemite national park we stopped at this 16th street eatery specializing in indian/pakistani food. The restaurant is warm and cheerful and is usually buzzing with patrons. Service is fast and cheerful and the staple briyani, nans and tandooris are very well done. There is also free flow masala tea!! Prices are reasonable.

The paneer was so good I almost finished the whole serving by myself. The nan bread was big! The mango lassi was helpful in calming my tastebuds after eating the spicy dish. It is self service- you order and pay at the counter and they give you a number so you can pick up your food once they call your... More

This a no frills Pakistani, Indian eatery in the Mission. It's self-service and they don't stand on ceremony. You order at the counter, collect your napkins, silverware, glass of water all on your own. If you don't want to do that, don't come here. Then you pick up your plate(s) of food and rush to your table because the aromas... More

Friends recommended this Pakistani/Indian restaurant, which is right near the northwestern edge of San Francisco’s Mission District. We found it very delicious and (amazingly for San Francisco) cheap! The restaurant was very busy when we walked in around 6 (completely packed but for a couple of spots), but staff quickly cleared tables for us, and kindly made sure there was... More

I have never, ever seen a dirtier restaurant in USA. There was an actual cockroach in my food. They waived the bill for the evening and apologized, but reading reviews it doesn't look like this was the first time. Someone in family tried to use the restroom and reported the filthy stench coming out of the storage area. Not to... More

Read a zillion great reviews, so picked up a tikki masala, saag paneer and naan to go, and asked that dishes be made MILD. Got around the nightmarish block, and discovered no rice in the order, so went back and were charged $5 for rice. Got it home and after spooning the grease off the top of each container, we... More

The atmosphere is dire, peeling walls and sticky linoleum floors. You have to order at a counter and grab your own drinks, cutlery, plates...possibly wash your own cutlery, plates, glasses... pehaps bring your own cutlery, plat and glasses...But the biryani was absolutely delicious, as were the curries and naans. Really, the best ever.

Staying in Mission District

Neighbourhood Profile
Mission District
From burritos to bicyclists, the Mission is the foundation for all things hip in the city. Cultural attractions, an independent arts community, sumptuous street murals and a high density of bars and cafes make this neighbourhood a magnet for young people. While terrific inexpensive food is abundant, its top-of-the-line restaurants now compete with the city’s best for fashionable diners. Indulge as the locals do by heading to Mission Dolores Park, buy some ice cream, and savor one of the most diverse neighbourhoods in the country.
