Cozy and comfortable, fresh squeezed OJ, tasty food and unpretentious environment. These days with so many places falling victim to gentrification, and sleek lines, the Blue Front Cafe offers the Haight St. what it was 20 years or more back.

Showing our teens the famous Haight + Ashbury neighborhood when we decided it was lunch time. Found the Blue Front Cafe and were really pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the reasonable pricing. Everything was made to order, and was delicious. Worth a stop while browsing the eclectic neighborhood!

We asked a local shop owner where to go and he did said Blue Front Cafe. It is an oasis of good food, fresh, healthy, a choice of coffees and milks (soy among all the usual other options). We had hummus and pitta bread - the best ever. Fresh, warm bread. Yum.

We ordered the gyros plate and blue moon beers. Portions were very generous and the food was tasty! So many different flavours and all went perfectly together! Reasonably priced and a perfect place for breakfast or lunch. Highly recommend for anyone who wants a place to relax, rewind and watch the world go by on Haight Street.

The place is on one end of the shopping area of Haight. On entry the menu board looks like an endless list of possibilities. The first day we went there we just had coffees. These were average. Nothing great. The guy on the counter was a grumpy guy and definitely needed some customer service lessons. We put that down to... More

We were looking for a "non-touristic" site: aaaand there it was. Nice place, good and cheap meal. But be aware: wraps and sandwiches really spicy!

We arrived in Sam Francisco one morning and decided to walk around the Haight Ashbury area. We came upon this restaurant by chance and were pleasantly surprised. The sandwiches were really good and the portions were tremendous! Two people could really share one wrap. We would probably go back if ever in the area.

We LOVE the falafel here, and pretty much everything else we've had has been great. The only issue is that it's quite pricey for such a casual spot, but it's on Haight St. and I'm sure their rent is crazier than their falafel prices, so....hey, whatever.

Staying in Haight-Ashbury

Neighbourhood Profile
The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops. While the Summer of Love ended decades ago, Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through its streets can still feel like stepping back in time. A must-see neighbourhood for most music fans, it’s easy to see why these streets attracted the likes of the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. You’ll likely be content in The Haight day or night, just be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
