The clear highlight here are the shrimp and scallop dumplings. They rank up there with any I've had. Har gao shrimp dumplings are also excellent. Snow pea shoots are a personal favorite and they are delicious here with roasted garlic. Generally the steamed dumplings were fabulous. Some of the fried ones were greasy and tasted of oil that wasn't fresh.... More

Great dim sum and awesome Chinese food. Hot and sour soup is the best I have ever tasted. Onion pancake is just like a lakee

We have been coming here for a while when in San Francisco. The food was just OK, and parking was hard in the neighborhood. Noodles were soggy without a lot of flavor. Veggie hot and sour soup was OK, as we could not get the regular without ordering a large bowl.

We had a great experience, dim sum is several small dishes, prices ranging from $4 - $7.95, that waitresses pass along the restaurant and you take whatever you want. This means it is fast, you barely sit and food is knocking on your table. Everything we tried was delicious, specially the scallop shrimp dumplings and the shrimp ball. A must... More

I'm a Bay Area local and dine often at Ton Kiang and also order take away frequently. I was quite surprised on November 14th when the delivery person asked that I tip him in cash as he handed me my credit card receipt. I said I preferred to tip on the credit card bill and he insisted cash only. That... More

Bay Area locals like us know you don't need to eat in Chinatown to get great dim sum. We've been going to Ton Kiang for several years now. They serve affordable dim sum all day, and Hakka-inspired main dishes in evenings. It's an unfussy place, and quite authentic. My wife lived in Hong Kong and Taiwan, and is quite particular... More

Excellent and unassuming Chinese restaurants, where you can get a very wide choice od succulent dim sums at lunch time. Trolleys pass throughout the restaurant so that you can pick up your favorites. Also the other dishes looked very good, but we couldn't taste them coz we had too many dim sums ...

Get in early and there is no wait. Quick service as you expect but also helpful. Dim Sum fillings were excellent and mostly light wrappers. Vegetables were the highlight and we highly recommend the stuffed eggplant and asparagus. Roast duck looked amazing. You just need to slow it down a bit otherwise you end up with everything at once. In... More

Sure, this place is good for dim sum. Sure the wait staff is imposing and "typical" forcing dishes on the unknowing. Can you get better dim sum, a definite resounding, "OF COURSE". The offerings here are your standards across the board. Go over to the new listing on Geary like flower lounge, 26th and geary, clement street...just go where you... More
