We absolutely loved this restaurant. We had the most beautiful gnocchi (including eating lots in Italy!!) in this restaurant. I had the parpadelle with pork ragu, which was delicate and light - a fantastic recommendation from a wonderful waiter. My other half had the half chicken and adored it. it was really juicy and succulent. He then had warm black... More

As we tend to do, we had, planned quite a bit of our week-long visit to San Francisco well in advance - my "Better Half", M, had persuaded me to endure an 11 Hour Flight to experience the West Coast of the USA for the first time as a Couple. From my researches, I had identified "Frascati" as a very... More

What a great find in Russian Hill! The host at the front was extremely polite and welcoming. The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff was very professional. I enjoyed their Osso Bucco and a glass of wine while watching the chefs work in an open kitchen which was very entertaining. Spectacular food, great atmosphere, professional service... what more could one... More

Had my birthday dinner here. Food was so delicious! Bread salad, rissoto, clam linguini all were awesome! Service was extremely friendly and attentive. Appeared to be lot of locals eating there. Although they don't serve well drinks the wine list is very good. Very boutique feel. Great for romantic dinner or a small group of friends. We are definitely going... More

My wife and I dined there this week for the 5th time in 3 years. We come to San Francisco for a week once a year, and each time in the last 3 years we've come to Frascati for dinner. They are remarkable. The quality of food is first class and delicious. Salads, pasta, seafood; all superb. Beyond the food,... More

The food was great. The experience terrible. After booking in advance and explaining that this was our 30th anniversary, they sat us at the back of the restaurant with a view of the bathroom corridor and the kitchen prep area which was very busy and cramped. They rushed us through our meal and there was nothing offered in celebration -... More

I really want to like this restaurant, as it is a popular neighborhood spot. But my return visit a few days ago left me feeling like I had overpaid and been treated with total indifference. (Do they care whether we return or not?) Our server must have been having a bad day or something. She did not interact with us... More

We recently went here with some friends who live in the area we were visiting. This spot was very tasty and good value. Pros: -everyone liked their food with the braised Lambert risotto being particularly delicious -good wine list -casual but still nice atmosphere -really enjoyed the assortment of cheeses on the 4 cheese board Cons: -limited vegetarian options if... Went to this restaurant on while visiting San Francisco over Labor Day weekend. It is a small place but seems well run by an enthusiastic staff. I ordered their roast chicken, and the waiter promised it would be "one of the best five meals you have ever eaten". Well, it wasn't but it was well-prepared and accompanied by small potatoes,... For a terrific meal, with superb service, and a view or two of Cable Cars, head to this delightful neighborhood bistro and let the eating begin. A recommend or two for the beginning: burrata with proscuitto di Parma, basil, balsamico, and fig jam with toasted baguette. Sit back and savor the flavor. Yet another possible opener: smoked salmon bruschette. And... More

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
