We have tried to contact the restaurant via the email-address on their website but the email could not be delivered. On the 15th of May early in the evening my husband and I had dinner at Viva Pizza, Columbus Avenue. I paid the bill with my visa card. The waiter took the card up behind for some minutes and came... I have a soft spot for this place. Right off Columbus, great to sit by the window if you can. Get any of the pizzas. Italian owned and operated. This is what the whole area of North Beach used to be - a little trip back through time and good food.

We have been coming to Viva's since they opened in the space next door (now the Greek restaurant) and they have always provided the tastiest pizzas and salads in North Beach. Always friendly service in a casual atmosphere.

We visited this restaurant for a quick meal on a Sunday evening. It was not very crowded. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It's a quick walk from the Hilton Financial District, right in North Beach. I had Eggplant Parmesan. It was delicious and perfectly prepared. My husband had a Veggie Pesto Pasta dish. The meals were very reasonably... More

Stumbled across this very nice family run Resturant in the north beach area just on the edge of China town. The food was prepared to order was very fresh hot and tasty. While the food was well priced and of a good value, a meal is alway enhanced when the staff engaged with the customers and spent that extra time... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
