It had been a while since I'd had a meal here and it was always basic, decent comfort food. On a recent visit, however, a had a different experience with an order of a waffle and coffee. The waffle came under-baked, mushy in the middle, and an unappetizing beige color. The bill for both was $15.

We had dinner here several times, and each time the food was good. There are daily changing specials, and the bread pudding for dessert is really good. Sitting in the window is a good way of seeing the world go by!

This staple of the Castro never lets me down. Solid good tasty good food and easy access and availability. Recently had the pork chops for breakfast and they were perfect. Moist as you could want. Service is great. Friendly place. Always a good deal.

If you happen to find yourself IN the Castro and ON Castro, you will want to duck into the Cove Cafe, a restaurant full of history on mounted screens, with food that's always delicious and reasonable. Big helpings as well. Breakfast offers many different style Benedicts, and all the rest is standard fare, but well prepared and tasty. The evening... More

Certain events leading up to the trip had me a bit down. Choosing a lunch at the Cove helped make those feelings go away and replaced with love. Getting time to visit with Solange & Maurice adds to the awesome. I do my best to eat quite a few meals there during my trip at different times of the day-... More

I had not eaten in 20 years. But I am glad that I did so tonight. Ribs and Fries, tonight's special, were excellent. Dinner salad was perfect. Service was great and food came out fast.

I visit the Castro each fall. We go here every morning for breakfast. They also have very good lunch and dinner. It's a good, local place and fun for people watching. Service has always been excellent.

I had read that this place was one of the top places for breakfast/brunch and mimosas and while I did not have the latter I did have the veggie eggs Benedict which is not on the menu but one made for me when I informed them I was vegetarian. Super efficient and friendly service full of friendly locals. Not a... More

Staying in The Castro

Neighbourhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighbourhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighbourhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theatres and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
