Small family owned restaurant with friendly service. order the roasted crab and a bowl of rice. After cleaning off the legs of the crab, mix the bits of the stir fried crab innards with rice. Yum! Garlic noodle was good too but the pho was just ok.

Decent food, standard menu, owners/wait staff will serve their friends and spend so much time with them that they forget the rest of the customers are waiting to place their orders. The staff does not work together. The young woman will take some orders, run back to the kitchen, then the young man runs out to finish taking orders. This... More

La Vie is a first class Vietnamesd restaurant. Strong flavors, cooking just the right degree of doneness, and imaginative combinations. The 5-spice chicken on garlic noodles was a wonderful balance of flavors, and the chicken was crisp outside and tender inside. Vietnamese Salad was strongly flavored but again, with balance.

Last Friday I met a client near Ocean Beach to enjoy roasted crab. Unfortunately for that restaurant they were closed. La Vie is a little small but the decor is really nice. After making several phone calls to find roasted crab, social media listed this restaurant as an option. The food was very good and a comparable value to the... More

OK - when you go out to an Asian restaurant you expect fast service in and out...but come on... about 90 minutes for Vietnamese food. This is actual time sitting at a table and not waiting to be seated. If I could, I would give 0 stars Here is the rough the timeline: Seated immediately - got the menu 15... More

This place deserves a 5 star review. I have been coming here for over a decade and every time it is a treat. We come here for a quite dinner knowing that we will not be rushed and that the service will be very polite. This is not a touristy place and you will rarely meet tourists here.

Last night we went to LaVie for the first time. In our opinion, the food was nothing special and overpriced. We ordered the Vietnamese crepe as an appetizer, which was very good and freshly made, when it finally arrived. Our entrees were 2 chef's specials, a dish with sea bass and sugar snap peas, and a dish of spicy mango... More

A friend recommended this place and we are so glad she did. Each item we ordered was tasty and great. The noodles were excellent too. So fun to find a restaurant that offers an interesting and diverse menu. Service was efficient and friendly.

Must have the crab, from the presentation to the taste was the best we have had. Great spot to get the local experience in San Fran.
