Our Goldenaires Senior Group had lunch at Far East Cafe before heading to the Buddha's Universal Church for a Chinese Play. The food was very good. All 10 people at our table enjoyed it. We had a chicken and vegetable dish, shrimp fried rice, broccoli beef, chow mein, sweet and sour pork, a vegetarian egg roll, and a green bean... More

It's an OK place for a light snack and some tea or beer. It's quite an institution and worth checking out. Quirky ambience, karaoke rooms upstairs.

Far East cafe seemed very authentic to us. My nephew lives in San Francisco and he brought us here. The starter potstickers were beautiful, as was the main chow mien and beef brocoli. We had our own booth. It was great fun... Far East cafe is well worth a visit...

I had a great meal here with terrific service. I was wondering around Chinatown and passed by and since it had interesting decor and people in it, I went in. I was not disappointed. I was promptly seated and had a big menu of items to choose from. I went with Cashew Prawns and Seafood Clay Hot Pot and Rice.... More

I have been coming to this place for years. But on my last visit, the prices were way up, and the quality of the food was down. Usually we order a few dishes from the menu for our group. But this time we decided to order the Peking Duck Dinner, which offers several dishes for $25.95 per person. That's because... More

We made a reservation for a booth which was nice and private, but once seated we were ignored. The combination platter appetizer consisted of tasteless eggrolls, thick doughy dumplings and "lightly breaded" calamari was thickly coated with batter. Spareribs appetizer was fatty and the little bit of meat was dry. Chicken with cashews looked and tasted like leftovers - a... More

The food was good, not great, but the service was horrible. We had to flag a waiter down to order and ask three times for our check. I would avoid this place.

Far East Cafe is in the perfect Chinatown location -- right on Grant, just a couple of blocks past Dragon Gate. The food isn't terrible, but there is much better to be had in the area. But the restaurant's interior is very nice. They have a handful of booths along one wall -- which are actually small rooms with tables... More

Went here on a Sunday night when there was not much activity in the street, only a few people eating inside. The decor was a bit dark and tired and the waiter stood just near our table the whole time which was a bit weird. Food was okay but probably would explore other options if we ate in chinatown again.... More

Highly overpriced food that is no better than cafeteria food. The calamari was fried horribly.. The staff is extremely short with you and does not care about you comfort. Will not recommend. Will not be coming back. There is many other place is right nearby that will have better food for way less money.
