Stella Pastry has every Italian delight you could wish for. Their cannolli are fresh and fabulous. They have a few tiny tables where you can sit, but you have to be quick to grab one.

I came here for some bakery goodies to bring home to family & friends (and for me!) and was very happy with the excellent quality. I got a frosted brownie-not bad for $2.95 & difficult to find at most bakeries-and some chocolate covered cookies-2 styles. The cookies are pricey-over $20 a pound, but you can buy just a few as... My husband and I were just here twice on our trip to San Francisco. I am a big dessert fan and Italian is my favorite. Stella's cannolis cannot be beat! Soooo good! I could literally eat several a day if I could. Price was great, restaurant was clean. I will be returning next time I'm in the bay area. More... More

Cannoli come in two types, Siciliano and Napolitano. The Sicilian ones have a thick tube and sweet things inside. The ones from Naples are flaky and have creme inside. They are also called Creme Horns. These melt in your mouth and are hard to find except in NYC and Naples. Stop by!

Stella's has a fabulous selection of baked goods and espresso bar. The service is friendly and welcoming and watching the chef putting together his creations is almost as enjoyable as eating them. I would return and enthusiastically recommend.

Cannot miss this bakery day or night for pastries and coffee. The cannoli are superb and always fresh. If you do not see ask them to fill one for you on the spot.

Small pastry shop in little Italy but with a great tiramisu dessert! Canolie was okay though... Definitely recommend the tiramisu!

We were recommended to this local bakery by the helpful staff at Golden Boy Pizza (this is their favourite place). Their is ample choice of locally created, freshly baked pastries, cookies and supporting coffees, teas and hot chocolate. A must try is their Sacripantina Slice which is the house creation. This place can be very busy but it is well... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
