We go every time we come to the city. The food is always good and hot. The service is always great and friendly. We love sitting at the bar and eating. We all order something different and share it.

We had dinner at Colibri twice while in town attending a convention- we went back because the food was so good the first time. Of course we had the table side guacamole but you can't go wrong with any selection- chicken tinga, ceviche, fish tacos, mole and the amazing margaritas. The restaurant is quaint and very busy so be sure... More

Four went for dinner. I had the ceviche and truly superb. My other dish was served under cooked an just warm. Had to be sent back, Appreciate the offer of an appetizer to compensate for the inconvenience. The other dishes were fine. Tortillas were in my estimation not cooked enough and too doughy a view shared by another diner in... More

Just had lunch there. I was craving something Mexican and was hoping we could do better than Taco Bell or Chipotle. We found this on trip advisor and what a treat! Located just across from the Curren Theatre on Geary. It is not huge but we were seated for lunch without waiting. I imagine it gets packed at dinner time.... More

My wife, her sister, her brother-in-law and I all ate here for dinner while in town recently. I had recommended it since her brother-in-law and I love Mexican food and rarely get the chance to eat it since the sisters dislike it being from Ukraine (they don't like any seasoning on their food except for salt, pepper & garlic powder).... I brought a big group of 8 in during the busy week of RSA Conference. The staff was excellent at helping those with dietary restrictions (we had one vegetarian and one person that was gluten free) pick delicious meals. The waiter was very well informed on every menu option. The appetizers and drinks came promptly, and the food was delicious.

My husband does not like Mexican food. I love Mexican food. I have been trying for years to explain to my husband that Mexican food is more than fajitas, burritos, and tacos. Well he has now learned that lesson for himself. The food was extraordinary. He had the bass and it was cooked perfectly. I had duck, also cooked perfectly.... More

This place was great! We went in for a late appetizer- about 9-11pm we were there on a Friday night. No wait, busy place, kinda feel like you're eating with everyone else as it's crowded..... stiff margaritas. Overall the guacamole was our favorite-so good!! We also got some really good pork thing- small serving size- and the desserts were excellent... More

Description
Colibri Mexican Bistro lies in the heart of San Francisco's bustling Theatre District, just a block west of Union Square. Spanish for "hummingbird," Colibri combines the simplicity of authentic family recipes with fresh, high-quality ingredients to bring diners unparalleled, delectable Mexican cuisine in a charming, turn of the century cantina setting. This warm and inviting eatery is reminiscent of Mexico City restaurants of the 1900's, decorated with classic Spanish paintings and accentuated by a vast collection of uniquely shaped and rare tequila bottles. Filled with energy, Colibri projects black and white 1940's Latino-film clips at the front of the house, while the open kitchen in back provides glimpses of its colorful cuisine in different stages of completions. Boosting a knowledgeable staff and attentive, sociable management, Colibri is dedicated to providing a memorable dining experience for both tourist and locals alike.
