Eiji is one of our favorite places to dine in SF. It is very small so it is a good idea to make a reservation, especially if you have more than 2 people in your party. I think they can only seats around 20-25 at a time. We've been going there for years & have never been disappointed. Everything is... More

Really good Japanese food! It's truly a local restaurant, no tourists at all Gyoza and ceviche roll were awesome!

I really enjoy this restaurant. It is hidden on Sanchez Street, it only has 6 tables; reservations are a must. The sushi/sashimi dishes are quite good, especially the specials. The cooked plates are amazing, especially the kama-shioyaki dishes (cooked fish cheek). The tofu dishes are the specialties, with emphasis on the Obōru tofu, which made-to-order. The crowd is almost 99%... More

First time here and the staff was nice. Got a seat right away at 12 on a Saturday. I got the California and Alaskan roll and my friend got the lunch special with the chefs choice. She said the miso soup was excellent along with her sashimi and rice. Not the best sushi I ever had but very good.

Classic japanese. Quiet and cosy decoration. Good prices and good food in general (makis, miso soup, gyozas).

Everyday we discover new places in this new neighborhood of ours. This is one of the best discovery. We had too big a group but they still could arranged a big table. It is a very small place. Fabulous and cozy. Perfect for couples. The tofu special is not to be missed.

I loved this place; my husband felt a little cramped. It isn't big and the design feels authentically Japanese. We ordered several dishes: I can't say I have had more thoughtfully prepared Japanese food. I left feeling very satisfied. Their shtick is the tofu: we tried the "cold" tofu. It was pudding-like but savory; I'm curious about going back and... More

A tiny venue, sparsely decorated hides fantastic food. Everyone has said it, but I'd heartily recommend the fresh tofu- exquisite! The only complaint was the dodgy vibe given off by the owner/head chef... In contrast to his staff he was stern and unwelcoming. I'd like to believe he was having a bad day, but it seems others on here have... More

When I lived in San Francisco this was a once a week treat. I haven't been back in 4 years. Everything is as good as I remember. There homemade Donburi tofu is legendary. Their sushi is so fresh. The strawberry Mochi dessert is out of this world and sells out quickly. The service is wonderful and very authentic Japanese. I... More

It looks like a small Japanese restaurant one would find in a narrow street in Kyoto. Very few tables and, if going for a booking, be punctual or they might pass it on to the next in the line. The food is great - certainly one of the best Japanese restaurants I have eaten recently. I can only recommend it!
