I've been there a couple times as I live in the neighborhood. It's hard to describe but it's hard for me to eat here. It's the decor. It's awful. Very dark. Not warm. It feels awkward. Food is subpar. Nothing stands out. I can't really tell you what I ate last time because it was so not memorable.

Wait staff lacks attention and the food was mediocre at best. This was the worst dining experience of our weekend visit to SFO.

We went to Triptych on a Groupon voucher, not expecting too much. We very pleasantly surprised. The service was very good (although their was only a few people at dinner at that early time). The wine list was very reasonably priced with a number of very good selections. My wife had the Osso Bucco and loved it. It was prepared... More

Really stumbled upon this little, intimate place while on a visit to SF. Looked good and it did not disappoint! My wife liked the beet salad and I had the New York strip! Well cooked and nicely presented! Friendly staff with the owner David attending personally to his guests. A delightful find.

You know how it is? You are about. Not expecting a lot but wanting a decent meal. Well Triptych did it for me. A really good pear and radicchio salad, a gorgeous gnochi and superb beignets. OK, nothing was excessively fancy and I picked straight from the specials (probably a good idea) but it was simply lovely. I see a... More

Always try to eat here when I'm in the City! Love the place. The pork Osso Bucco is amazing and so is the Walu butterfish! Definitely my favorite place in the City

Great food, friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere. Try the sangri and the burger, the meat is great and the sangria is super fruity! :)

I arrived in SOMA late and so could only grab dinner nearby. I was pointed to Typtych which luckily was still open and it was way above my expectation. SOMA is not exactly an upmarket district (especially if walking around at night) so coming upon the level of cuisine is surprising to me. I enjoyed my ravioli immensely and my... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
