The restaurant was on walking distance from my hotel, Le Meridien. Reservation smoothly via OpenTable. It was quiet when I entered the restaurant around 8:30pm. I liked the overall atmosphere and the friendly staff. My main course the mixed plate Grilled Filet Mignon & Butter Roasted Maine Lobster Tail was delicieus. Both where just perfectly prepared. They offer some nice... More

Much cheaper if you eat at the bar during happy hour. A couple appetizers - much better than typical bar appetizers - and a few dollars off the Mai Tai made for a great experience.

I booked 1 day prior, asked for a relatively quiet table since it's our 17 year anniversary. The man that took our reservation sounded pretty pesstimistic said it was a Fri night and they'll be at capacity. When we checked in at 7pm on Fri plenty of open tables yet they stuck us right next to the bar in back... More

Oh, Roy's. What has happened to this once great restaurant? We arrived at 9:10pm, having checked both yelp and google for opening hours. All we wanted was a chocolate soufflé, because it's the best in the bay, and we told our visiting friends that they must try it before they leave. We arrived to be told that, despite listing closing... More

All the options on the menu look great. There is a good selection of seafood, beef, chicken, and vegetarian choices. We started with the Canoe Appetizer for Two which was plenty for a table of 4. You get 2 of each item. If you enjoy seafood, at Roy's go with a seafood dish. This place may be pricey but could... More

Went with a friend to Roy's as we both remember our days in Kauai visiting this restaurant in Poipu. Fish is very solid. the rest of the food fine. As is the case with all SF restaurants, you simply can not look at the bill without getting indigestion. One grilled vegetable plate, a wedge salad and ahi tuna, no dessert,... More

My wife and I both chose the pre-fix lunch from the Roy's menu. As always, they did not disappoint. Plenty of food, nice flavors and very good service topped our midday stay in The City. I had the short ribs, my wife the salmon and both were cooked perfectly. The appetizers and deserts, which came with the pre-fix were very... More

Roy's is a wonderful place to celebrate an occasion -- anniversary, birthday, graduation, retirement, etc. Whether an intimate dinner or larger brunch, the restaurant always amazes me. Having celebrated a milestone birthday, the staff were very attentive and informative with the meal selection and wine pairing. Of course, one has to have dessert -- and the molten chocolate soufflé is... More

We love Roy's and we visit one whenever we have the chance. It was my birthday and everything was wonderful, starting with the birthday acknowledgment on the table. They were serving a blood orange infused vodka lemon drop and it was excellent. The potstickers and the lobster bisque were perfect. I asked the waiter if we could custom order something... More

I'm actually quite glad that legendary chef and proprietor Roy Yamaguchi still has a Roy's franchise outpost in the heart of San Francisco's financial district. It provides a unique collection of steak and seafood mixed with a potent collection of Asian fusion cuisine. I especially love the fact that their Aloha Hour, aka their Happy Hour, lasts from 4-7pm and... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
