My husband and I have been in California for two weeks and I was super excited to visit this restaurant because I am huge movie buff. When we arrived we were the only customers in the restaurant. One employees was eating his lunch at the bar which I find weird. The bartender Joshua served us wine then spent his entire... More

This Italian restaurant offers high taste food which is presented simply but deliciously. This cafe is located on the border of Chinatown.

Excellent waiter-very attentive to my wife who wanted to have a spaghetti pomodoro with capers and olives but little garlic (a special preparation request) We split a caesar salad which was above average (but not exceptional) and the spaghetti pomodoro which was good but the sauce was slightly sweet. A Viognier white wine was suggested by the waiter for my... More

My husband and I came here for lunch after reading good reviews but we didn't think it deserve that much praise. Compared to other nice restaurants in SF, the portions were really small. My husband ordered pasta and it was under cooked and lacked sauce and seasoning. Although a famous restaurant with a famous owner and history, perhaps stop for... More

I visited the cafe with my partner. The maître was amazing. She helped us choosing the correct wines and the food. I'll always come back.

All the pictures of Coppola on the walls. The very delicious and special meals we tasted. The excellent wine - director's cut. If you have ever seen a Coppola movie and visit San Francisco - do not miss this place. Just note that you are not allowed to take pictures of the walls.

Stopped in on a Saturday night around 8 pm, and got a cozy table at the back, suitable for canoodling. Tiny little tables, lots of wood and tile. Fulfilled my idea of what a little Italian joint should be like. Excellent wine list filled with Coppola wines. Bonus – they offer wine tastings – 3 glasses for around $18.

Francis Ford Coppola's little restaurant represent a good selection of his own wines, great decor and basic but quality Italian food.

We were introduced to Cafe Zoetrope on the Big Bus tour. We couldn't have been more excited to hear that this was Coppola zone! We're such big fans of him and his wines that we just had to find our way back here after the tour. The bartender was quite accommodating and told us some interesting nuggets about the place... Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
