I live in the neighborhood and want to love this place. For a while, the food was truly underwhelming and I hoped and wished it would improve AND IT DID!! Three of us showed up for brunch this weekend and it wasn't until we sat down and had ordered a drink when we looked at our menu and realized it... More

Many people don't realize this cafe also has a bar and restaurant. Request a table near the fireplace downstairs. The room is cozy and intimate. Hira was our server and very welcoming. I had the Kale & Brussels Sprouts Salad and Butternut Bisque. My partner had the Bolognese pasta dish. Great food!

Great place for brunch or picking up coffee or pastries. There is usually line so reservations are highly recommended. Place is small and "lively".

We had 2 visits here. Our first night in Boston we enjoyed our evening meal here. We were greeted by a friendly staff member and shown to a cosy little table downstairs and had the most simple yet delicious meal. The wine was lovely, the atmosphere was relaxing. I couldn't finish my meal but was offered a doggy bag. It... More

We went here for dinner to celebrate two of our friends birthdays. The food is usually good and the drinks are terrific. Got my burger medium not medium rare...but it was still OK. Love this place EXCEPT for the downstairs dinning room. This is the second time we had dinner here. Both times it was extremely loud you had to... More

My daughter went into Boston for a ladies' brunch. We were seated downstairs in a very cozy room with exposed brick and a working gas fireplace. Our waitress greeted us quickly and gave us time to look at the menu. Not huge m end, but definitely enough options for us. We shared a delicious butterscotch scone w/cream & jam. I... More

Food is very good but a little pricey ($20+ for 2 egg mcmuffins, tea and seltzer water). Mostly friendly service, and reasonably fast. Tough to get used to how CRAZY hectic it is there. It's chaos, but I think I'm the only one who cared. The locals obviously love it!

Based on the food this is a 4-star establishment. Everything is quite good, but not quite 5-star level. The smoked salmon & eggs is very good, the pancakes are well above average, then eggs benedict is very good, and the brunch cocktails are very good, too. South End Buttery loses a star (and it probably should be more like losing... More

The French toast with berries is a must try! Their eggs and omelets are delicious as well. Their fresh squeezed orange juice, muffin/bread basket and general atmosphere draw me back. Small place, long wait even with a reservation sometimes there is a wait, atmosphere is what I would call 'cozy' and parking is a challenge, but the French toast is... More

This restaurant has two floors and a small bakery area. We had brunch on a weekend and had reservations. The service was good. One diner has diet restrictions and the waitress was helpful. The food was good, fresh and the menu has variety. The prices for menu items are overpriced and the sides are generous but also overpriced. Try the... More

Staying in South End

Neighbourhood Profile
South End
Stroll down the beautiful brownstone lined streets while capturing views of Boston’s tallest buildings from a distance. Some of Boston’s best restaurants are scattered around this neighborhood. There are many gems to be found, from jazz clubs to classy bars and restaurants. It is also home to art galleries, interesting boutiques, artsy stores and SOWA open market during the summer months. The South End is a true find in the city, with a more residential feeling than Back Bay.
