My wife brought me to Mezzana for dinner. I was expecting good Italian fare but got great Italian fare. Long story short, we very much enjoyed pretty much everything. High points : crab crostini (smooth and creamy); lamb chops (perfectly done); and orechiette (nice tang...More

Great quality and attentive service at this casual Italian bar / restaurant. Hangar steak was very flavorful and pasta with mushrooms / sausage was excellent. Noise level a bit high but not unreasonable.

Apparently a new gentrified Boston neighborhood. I know little about Boston being a long time Chicago and now DC area resident. Cab ride to AC hotel on Albany was great to see all the vibrant neighborhoods and what seemed like a prosperous city. Had visited...More

On a visit to Boston, Bar Mezzana came highly recommended. Allergic to shellfish, my menu choices were already limited. However, judging by the gusto with which the shellfish ordered by our party disappeared, I would deduce that oysters and clams were fresh. This restaurant serves...More

If you like small dishes like crostini, and are sharing with others, this may be a good choice. There were only four entrees on the menu; my husband had the chicken under a brick (Ok, not wonderful) and I had a pasta dish that was...More

Have just returned from a great evening at Bar Mezzana. Noisy on entry to the point of it being difficult to be heard, but quickly salvaged by a table outside on a glorious summer’s evening. We opted for the ‘family style’ menu .. with some...More

First things first, the food was delicious!! The menu was strapped to a board and written in “chef-speak”, so it needed to be translated to help us understand. We got several dishes which were all well presented and very delicious. The atmosphere was comfortable and...More

Busy summer Friday, but got a solo at the bar. Yummy antipasto, and the couple next to me loved their pasta. Service was fast because they staffed the bar properly for a summer weekend- and friendly too, taking the time to explain an exotic liquor...More

A coastal Italian restaurant by Chef Colin Lynch located in Boston's South End neighborhood, Bar Mezzana's menu highlights the simplicity and beauty of regional Italian cooking. In addition to a selection of handmade pastas- there is a separate daily crudo menu, sections of the menu dedicated to both sliced -to--order Prosciutto di Parma, and a variety of seasonal crostini, as well as seasonal entrees. The beverage program showcases Italian wines thoughtfully selected to pair with Chef Colin's food and includes both widely- loved varietals from all over Italy and lesser known (but equally enjoyable) discoveries. The selection of draft and bottled beers, as well as Beverage Director Ryan Lotz's cocktail list, display a similar synergy with the food and feature celebrated Italian cocktails including a perfect Negroni, in addition to the classics.
