Well run location. Great service. Quality food. Try the egg white, cheddar, avocado on skinny wheat bagel. Coffee made fresh throughout the day.

This is one of my "go to" places when I want to pick up lunch and bring it back to my desk. While the sandwiches are good, the real stars are the soups. Au Bon Pain typically has 10 -12 different soups daily, and they are almost invariably excellent. Prices are decent too.

Loved the croissant, but the ice tea tasted like it had been brewed using coffee water. not good. Also I had no idea where to find the bathroom. Also be warned, if you are handicapped or have sore knees like me the access steps are pretty steep.

I often go to Au Bon Pain. I never eat there, and almost invariably take out. Au Bon Pain's soups are quite good: I particularly like the 12 Veggie soup and the Vegetarian Chili. The cookies and pastries are good too.

My wife and I just got back from 5 nights, 4 days in Boston. We stayed in the Cambridge area, and ate at the Au Bon Pain restaurant on Massachusetts Avenue for breakfast our last three days there. It's a chain, of course, but I don't believe either of us had ever eaten in one. We found it a great... More

Au Bon Pain in both Boston and Cambridge are expensive, but offer good quality for the offered price. Extensive assortiment. Coffee is good, not great.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
