Just happened upon Bella Vista as we were trying to find a place for a light lunch on a busy Saturday. Our waiter, Tony, was a riot!! "Authentic Italian" and had us laughing with his anecdotes. The restaurant offers lunch specials at reasonable prices; my husband had the fried calamari which had the lightest batter we have probably ever experienced... More

Management response:

While the bread wasn't exactly what you were hoping for, I'm thrilled the rest of your meal truly impressed! I always enjoy hamming it up with guests, so I'm glad you and your husband had fun on Saturday. Next time you're around, I'd love to welcome you back for more escarole tortellini soup. This was one of our favorite North End resturants for quality no frills Italian food, but when we this past weekend the food quality had slipped. Our antipasta salad was more like a iceberg salad with a few olives and cheese. Our pasta was very gummy, and the veal I had tasted like frozen food re- heated. We were very... More

Management response:

Believe me, I'm just as disappointed to read how your last visit went. The way your salad, pasta, and veal turned out couldn't be further from the norm here. I do appreciate you bringing this up so I can touch base with the kitchen about your visit -- this doesn't sit right with me at all. Hope we'll still have... More

Highly Recommend! Great value, huge, delicious meals, fabulous service. Bread was amazing. Fried calamari and chicken parmigiana were fantastic. Definitely would go here again if we were in Boston. Thanks Tony!

Thank Leanne A

Have been coming here for years, most times with colleagues while on business. Have not been in for a few years and this time was dining solo. Had the Chicken Parm and spaghetti. Wish they would do half-orders of the fettuchine alfredo which I absolutely love. This is my go to place when I want a classic. Dined on a... More

I found this restaurant a few years ago by luck. I came up here and went to a restaurant with big recommendations but lousy food after waiting in line for a half hour.. Next day I came back to Hanover Street looking for a real Italian restaurant. There was a bench outside a shop with 4-5 local men on it.... More

If you want great Italian food this is my favorite. The veal or chicken parm is the best and the pasta is always good. A glass of wine will complete your meal. Have dessert at either Modern pastry or Mikes. They are only a couple of blocks awat.

With so many Italian restaurants in the North End, my wife asked a local resident for a suggestion. She told us about Bella Vista and we are glad we went there. The restaurant offered luncheon specials, but we ordered from the full menu and both had veal parmesan. The food was very good and delivered quickly and hot. The portions... More

LOVE Boston's Little Italy area. Just to walk down the streets and smell the aromas is awesome! On a recent trip to Boston's North End, we asked an Italian shop owner where he recommended, and he immediately said, "Bella Vista!" we took his suggestion and were not disappointed. Our server was not only good, but also hilarious. He rambled on... More

Great menu, quaint setting, awesome food. As with most North End restaurants, Bella Vista is a small Italian restaurant that has a great menu and great food.

We had dined a Little Italy previously and wanted to try another restaurant, we had received a suggestion of Giacomo's also on Hanover St., there was a long line-up waiting to be seated. We were hungry and did not want to wait, checked a few places and decided on Bella Vista. Service is quick, however, I never saw any of... More

While I'm glad that you had speedy service here, Dorothy, I'm sorry you felt the rest of your meal fell short. It's important to us that you enjoy your meal from start to finish, and I'm disappointed you weren't impressed by our veal. A lot of time and care goes into making sure everything is prepared just right, so I'm... More
