You will find Casa Romero just off Gloucester Street in an alley between Commonwealth Ave. and Newbury St. in Boston's Back Bay area. There is a small sign and almost a hidden door. I discovered it not long after it opened in the mid-'70's. I love Mexican food and at the time it was hard to find in New England.... More

I had the chicken enchilada with a chocolate sauce - with just enough spice. The guacamole was excellent. The cucumber margarita was very good, too. A little pricy overall, but I'm used to small town prices. I would definitely return.

Great food. The Poblano enchiladas were great, both the chicken and vegetarian. The guacamole was good. Out of the way but easy to find.

Casa Romero has become our best secret and we love bringing friends here. Tucked away, you can accidentally walk past it if you are not looking for their sign. Casa Romero' margaritas are very good and live up to the name "perfect margarita". Some friends and I went there and enjoyed our dinner. I ordered the Huarache de Filete de... More

Gloucester St. runs between Newberry St. and Commonwealth Ave. in central Boston. The action is all around, and this amazingly authentic Mexican restaurant is tucked in to an alleyway on the North side of Gloucester. A wooden sign hangs over the carved wood door. Opening it, I experience the essence of my student days in Mexico City. The flavors on... More

Firstly, the staff there are wonderful. Unfortunately my meal was far too salty and I sent it back. They did offer another dish but I declined since I had lost my appetite. No break on the bill. The meal in question is in the photo. May have been an off night since Ive had far better here.

Perfect place to take a college kid and his or her friends. Solid Mexican food menu, attentive staff. Cozy, warm atmosphere. Could step-up its bar and offer a more interesting selection than the usual margaritas.

Having eaten here from the days it opened in the early seventies, this place has maintained its food flavor, ambience and uniqueness over the years. Having not been here in the last 8-9 years..living in the burbs, we recently meet friends here and have rediscover it as well as its garden section, which we missed as we usually went here... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
