Nice small setting. We ordered a bottle of wine which they were out of, the waiter recommended another which we ordered & enjoyed. We loved our appetizers, the dinners sadly were nothing special. The restaurant was not busy & our waiter was adequate but not engaging. Dessert was not offered. We did see desserts on another table & they looked... More

The restaurant is very easy to get to with public parking close by. Our reservation was for 6 people at 7:30 and our table was ready at 7:20 when we arrived. The staff was very attentive but allowed us time and space to relax and enjoy. The food, from apps to entrees and deserts were all very well prepared and... More

For our last night in Boston we wanted to find a truly outstanding and off the beaten path Italian restaurant. Having been to many in the North End of Boston in the past, we finally chose this one. We were seated easily (for 2), which was nice, but the wine they had was acidy and tart, not at all to... More

We had a very pleasant experience with an early diner before going to the Celtics game. The food was well prepared and presented and very reasonably priced. The restaurant has been there for years now and is a mainstay in an ever changing neighborhood. We recommend La Summa to anyone who wants a good Italian diner. The service was excellent... More

This was a great find on a freezing night. A friend who lives in the North End recommended it, and it was perfect. Cute and cozy atmosphere. Friendly staff. Very good food. Nice portions. Decent, not huge so you will overeat. Even a gas fireplace in the corner. Loved it. Will return again. I started off with the Arancini which... More

We were visiting Boston for the weekend and decided on Italian for Saturday night on Saturday afternoon. We didn't realize how booked all the Italian restaurants were in the North End. We found La Summa through a long search on trip advisor but they were one of the few places who would accommodate us at 7:30 on a 2 hour... More

This little Italian restaurant on Fleet St in the NorthEnd has been owned for decades by a single owner and remains true to its roots using a eight burner stove with excellent, very cost effective, real Italian cuisine. Very comfortable and friendly environment worth checking out. Not flashy and ostentatious. Just a real value.

First time eating here. Food was amazing. Pasta was freshly made. Every employee that we had contact with was super friendly. The restaurant is not in the vicinity of all the other places so it's not as easy to find. We found it by accident by walking around in the neighborhood. We come to Boston once a month and will... We asked the concierge at our hotel (Marriott Long Wharf) is she knew of a good Italian restaurant. She said that she loved a place named La Summa which was right off of the Little Italy part of Boston. We said, cool, and headed out. This is a cloth napkin place that was absolutely empty when we arrived. (There in... More

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
