Wow! The squid ink pasta with seafood was absolutely delicious. As good as Italy -- and in Boston. Wow. So happy we went and cannot wait to return.

Very small italian restaurant with fairly extensive menu, emphasizing pasta based dishes. Service was excellent and 5 of the six meals ordered were judged very good by those in our group (stuffed veal dish was considered overcooked by spouse.) Reservations are essential. Be aware that this restaurant is really not able to handle groups larger than 4 effectively. We were... More

We had lunch at this trattoria after being on a tour of their Mercato and Salumeria. The food was lacking vibrancy and flavor. It didn't delight as you would expect after trying their pizza and salads in the other store. The glass of chianti was of poor taste. They need a new chef.

This is a classic small "family run feel" Italian restaurant with great food. Maybe it seats 30? Small in any case, with a full house the tables and chairs are on top of each other and the plates are passed across. But it works, it's cozy and friendly and you can have a 1-1 conversation if you'd like. The floors... More

This is a North End spot I keep going back to, enjoying the small size and fresh pasta. The staff is friendly and helpful with recommendations. The wine list is good value, and the specials change regularly. Pasta is made on the premises. Definitely reserve ahead on peek nights as the place only has around 30 seats and is popular.

We enjoyed the intimate little bistro for lunch and dined on a meatball panini and a seared scallop pappparadelle with a pesto aeoli and walnuts that was just devine. Service was very attentive at a busy time and the pasta cooked to perfection. A very enjoyable meal for both of us.

This is a small Italian Trattoria so it's best to have a reservation. Parties with later reservations may end up waiting regardless. The tables are packed relatively tightly, but I enjoyed the atmosphere, which was quite animated. I thought the menu and daily specials provided a nice range of options. Contrary to other reviews, I thought the wine list was... More

Very nice Italian restaurant at the North End. Some of the housemade pasta and other dishes sound like stuff out of a can don't be fooled, you will have one of the finest Italian experiences in Boston. The place is tiny and crowded so make reservations.

My husband and I spent a lovely anniversary weekend in Boston and stumbled upon Trattoria Di Monica. They had an open table for two, which we were told was very lucky (and we agree wholeheartedly now). We didn't have the greatest table location, the restaurant is really intimate, but the food! Our waitress was very attentive without being pushy and... More

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
