We enjoyed good service and food during our visit and found the Garlic Chips appetizer and the Fish and Chips entree to be the best items at our table, though no-one was disappointed with his or her choices. The atmosphere is really nice inside - take a walk downstairs to see some of the original wall. We were able to... More

Fish and chips were great, although a little light on the amount of fish. Creme brulee was very good. Pretty good beer selection for the type of restaurant. Good option in the neighborhood, good service.

Stopped in for a quick lunch and beer and was pleasantly surprised. Good chowder and Turkey sandwich washed down with a Leffe Blonde.

I've been to the Granary for late-night drinks as well as brunch. Cool atmosphere inside, and fantastic Eggs Benedict for brunch!

Our first meal in Boston having dropped the hire car. Lunchtime crew is a mix of business and tourist with more of the former despite waterfront proximity. Service was very good, food was very good. Burger ordered was excellent. We went twice without reservation and were early lunch. Restaurant was very busy and bookning for anything past 12.30 seemed best.

Nice convenient location near the waterfront. The food was freshly cooked and service was fine. It's probably best to book as it was very busy even midweek. The exception was that both times the fries were overdone.

We decided to try the Granary Tavern on a Friday night. We didn't have a reservation but got a table right away. We ordered drinks and they came in a few minutes. We got the Ploughmans plate which was a really generous serving! Cheeses, meats, grilled breads and pickled veggies and mustard. We both got salads, my husbands chicken Caesar was bland.... More

This is was my first meal in Boston after arriving and it was absolutely perfect. I had the sangria which was not all fruit juice with a little alcohol so it packed a punch. I then had to have the lobster roll to start off my trip right and it did not disappoint. The lobster was not drenched in mayo... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
